JOB SUMMARY The Staff Accountant supports general accounting, treasury, account reconciliations, journal entry preparation, external audit, and financial reporting. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES ? Prepares month end closing journal entries and month end close papers in accordance with GAAP and company policies and procedures ? Records financial entries and prepares balance sheet reconciliations including researching and clearing reconciling differences for assigned accounts ? Reconciles cash accounts, including merchant cards and petty cash ? Supports implementation of treasury solutions, including the set up and maintenance of bank accounts, payment cards, and merchant services. ? Maintains the fixed asset subledger and associated depreciation schedules; ensures proper recording of additions, disposals, and transfers ? Prepares monthly financial statements, statistical, and management reports ? Assists with annual financial statement audit ? Prepares annual United States Census Bureau filings ? Researches accounting treatment for non-routine transactions ? Completes special projects or ad-hoc analysis as assigned Systems and Standards ? Maintains a clean, neat work environment ? Completes all tasks in a timely manner as instructed by the Accounting Supervisor or above ? Cooperates with senior management and coworkers to ensure that services can be adequately maintained to meet the needs of internal and external customers ? Treats clients and associates with courtesy, respect and dignity ? Interfaces with management and technology support personnel on accounting applications ? Identifies current or potential problems with reports, analyzes the impact to financial data, and proposes solutions Safety and Risk Management ? Understands and follows safety and security procedures ? Practices preventative safety procedures as set forth by Towne Park ? Reports all accidents and incidents to the Accounting Supervisor immediately ? Uses only equipment trained to use and operates all equipment in a safe manner ? Reports all potential high risk areas and safety concerns to the Accounting Supervisor KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES ? Ability to work independently in a fast paced environment adhering to strict deadlines ? Knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Practices (GAAP) and the ability to apply general accounting theory to day to day processes ? Ability to maintain confidential information ? Strong analytical skills and problem solving ability ? Computer proficiency and technical aptitude with the ability to utilize MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Outlook) and various accounting technology applications ? Written and verbal communication skills to effectively address all levels within the organization ? Ability to represent the company effectively in a variety of settings with a demonstrated understanding and appreciation for diverse cultures ? Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business policies, procedures, equipment manuals, training materials, and corporate communications ? Ability to compose professional internal and external business communications including reports, memos, letters, and e-mails QUALIFICATIONS ? Bachelor’s degree in Accounting OR Bachelor’s degree in related field. ? One to three (1-3) years of account reconciliation and general ledger accounting experience ?
