About this job

Aloha and mahalo for your interest in Hawaiian Experience Spa. We are looking for hard-working, future minded leaders to join our ‘ohana as an Assistant Spa Manager (Ali’i). This is an ideal entry level management position with great potential for both personal and professional growth.

As an Ali’i you will be assisting the Spa Manager in executing the spa’s vision of providing exceptional service, while spreading the Spirit of Aloha. In this position, you will spend about half of your time directly assisting customers, essentially filling the role of a Spa Attendant and the other half of your time assisting the Spa Manager in doing everything necessary to operate the spa.

During the time that you are filling the role of a Spa Attendant, more is expected of you. These expectations vary from achieving higher membership sales (as a team or an individual) to providing a higher and more responsive level of service.

Every interaction that you have, be it with customers or employees, carries immense power as you are representing the leadership of the spa. This is a great advantage when interacting with others, however, it comes at the cost of being more highly scrutinized which can lead to problems, if you are not careful. In order to be a successful manager at Hawaiian Experience spa you need a great temperament, attitude, a genuine desire to help others and the ability to hold yourself to the high standards that you set for others.

During the other half of your time, you will be working towards the same goal of Spreading the Spirit of Aloha, but in a different way. You may assist by conducting trainings, new hire orientations, hiring new ‘ohana members, monitoring transactions, membership sales, maintaining positive moral, redirecting employees to help him/her succeed, and more.

Hawaiian Experience Spa is a growing business, moving into a stage of aggressive growth. This is a great positive as it affords exceptional opportunities for advancement and the ability to help shape the future of the spa. With that being said, this opportunity and growth process is not for everyone. It comes with some level of uncertainty, the need to adapt, and requires the ability to dedicate yourself to solving problems constructively.

Starting out, you will go through our traditional Spa Attendant training program; which is extensive. Additionally, you will go through the spa’s in house management training program with Mike Ibach, our company President. This program helps new managers (to the spa or otherwise) by training them in the spa’s philosophies, leadership approach, goals and more.

If this sounds like something that you would LOVE to explore (do not forget to look at the information below too), then we would love for you to apply!

Requirements For Assistant Spa Manager Applicants

General requirements for success:

  • Have a solid, consistent, and verifiable work history.
  • Be open minded and non-judgmental
  • Have reliable transportation
  • Be a Non-Smoker
  • Be in good physical condition
  • Have an upbeat, high energy personality
  • Be willing to learn and study outside of your working hours (during your training period)
  • Be organized
  • Be hardworking
  • Have strong organizational skills
  • Have an ability to multi-task (the spa can get hectic – ask the Spa Attendants!)

You must have:

  • Supervisory experience
  • A fully open schedule (we try to work with preferences, but your schedule cannot be restricted)
  • An intention to grow with the business (this position is a stepping stone to the future)
  • Stable work history with positive past employer relationships
  • The ability to accept reality as it is, take responsibility for actions and to learn from mistakes
  • Sales experience or a willingness to learn and a comfort with encouraging customers to make purchasing decisions that are right for them
  • The genuine desire to embrace the spa’s philosophies
  • An understanding of the nature of working within, and constructively contributing to, a growing business

Helpful:

  • A degree in a business related field
  • Industry experience

If you have experience in the industry, it will be very helpful to you as there is a lot to learn! If you are an LMT or esthetician, looking to move into a Spa Management Career, this is a great opportunity. It does require a career oriented mindset as it is a big change from being a therapist.

You can feel free to continue performing services, if you have the time, however, you will be needed full-time (approximately 40 hours/week) as an Assistant Spa Manager, so treatments would need to be performed outside of your Assistant Manager schedule.

Benefits of working at Hawaiian Experience Spa:

Membership bonuses are approximately $30 per new member, and are paid each pay period (essentially raising your hourly wage substantially).
  • A place to work where your managers and employer are always trying to do what is best for you. You will become part of our ‘ohana (‘ohana means family in Hawaiian) and will be treated in that manner.
  • Ability to help shape the company
  • Advancement opportunities with higher earnings potential
  • One free massage or facial per month (only $15 for additional treatments)
  • Full training in Spa Operations and Management (as applicable)
