Position Title: Detailer (Hourly/Flat Rate) Revised: 7/2011

Catagory: Non-Exempt / Commission Exempt

Reports To: Service/Sales Manager

Summary:

Support Sales and Service Department operations with clean and finely detailed vehicles. Conform to dealership and/or manufacturer specifications and time allowances.

Essential Duties include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

- Washes vehicle exterior, cleans interior and exterior windows, and wipes down doorjambs.

- Applies wax to auto body, and wipes or buffs surface.

- Vacuums interior of vehicles to remove loose dirt and debris.

- Cleans upholstery, rugs, and other surfaces, using appropriate cleaning agents, applicators, and cleaning devices.

- Applies revitalizers and preservation agents to interior vinyl or leather surfaces and treats fabrics with spot- and stain-resistant chemicals.

- Cleans engine and engine compartment with steam-cleaning equipment and various cleaning agents.

- Applies special-purpose cleaners to remove foreign materials which normal cleaning procedures do not remove, utilizing experience and judgment and following product

manufacturer s recommendations.

- Inspects vehicles for noticeable defects, such as dents, scratches, torn upholstery, and poor mechanical operation. Communicates all defects to manager.

- Restores appearance of engine area, rugs and upholstery, and painted surfaces. Uses touch-up paint, dyes, and other appropriate materials.

- Applies dressing on tires and tire wells.

- Replaces missing or defective small parts.

- Replaces all traces of any protective films or coverings applied for shipment or service.

- Maintains showroom or stock vehicles in clean and presentable condition at all times.

- Removes all window stickers on sold vehicles.

- Fills vehicle with fuel.

- Keep shop area neat and clean and be able to account for all dealership- owned tools and equipment at all times.

- Understand, keep up to date, and comply with federal, state, and local regulations that affect service operations such as; safety rules and procedures, hazardous waste

disposal, OSHA right-to-know, etc.

- Wear appropriate PPE, i.e. use proper eye, hand, and body protection when using products that require protection.

- Appropriately and safely operate all tools and equipment as mandated through safety training. Report any safety, equipment defects or malfunction issues to management

immediately.

- Attend all dealership and service department meetings when requested.

- Provide exceptional customer service.

Additional Responsibilities:

- - Adherence to all attendance and punctuality standards.

- - Adherence to timekeeping standards; Employees are required to record the beginning and ending times of any shift, meal break or departure from work for personal

reasons.

- - Understand and follow all work rule policies and procedures.

- - Maintains a professional clean and pressed business appearance as determined by dealership management.

- - Follow the Code of Business Ethics and Conduct.

Qualifications:

High school diploma or equivalent. Ability to read and comprehend instructions and information. Must have a valid driver s license and a good driving record. Ability to demonstrate good judgment. Neat and professional appearance.

Working Conditions:

This physically demanding position requires frequent movement; i.e. bending, lifting, reaching, squatting, and getting into and out of various vehicles repeatedly during the work shift. This work is completed outside of the dealership, under varying climate conditions. Detailer will work with and move numerous vehicles during the course of the working day.
