Job Summary

Provides supervision of accounting team in the execution of daily accounting duties.  Assists in the supervision and direction of the financial activities of the hotel.  Responsible for safeguarding the assets and assists in preparation of preliminary financial reports in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles.

 

Essential Job Functions

  • Trains and supervises Accounting Department staff including coaching, counseling and discipline (Accounting staff includes accounts receivable, accounts payable, general cashier, and revenue audit functions).
  • Assists in monitoring and approval of all sales, purchases, and expenses of the hotel.
  • Analyzes financial data of operations, in order to advise management and the assist in maintaining an efficient operation including monthly balance sheet reconciliations.
  • Prepares month end financial reporting package.
  • Assists management in maintaining all licenses, permits, insurance and contracts.
  • Prepares monthly sales tax returns.
  • Manages document retention schedules.
  • Oversees monthly reconciliation process.
  • Maintains cash requirement schedules.
  • Helps establish and audit all internal financial controls, including purchasing, cash handling and disbursements, inventories, hotel equipment, master keys, and personnel time records.
  • Assists Director of Finance with preparation of miscellaneous reports, budget and forecasts as needed.
  • Attends weekly hotel operational meetings.
  • Performs any additional tasks and duties as required.

 

Requirements

  • Must be able to read, write, speak, understand and comprehend English fluently
  • 4-year degree in accounting or finance perferred
  • At least 2 years experience in hotel accounting in a similar size operation required
  • Understanding of PCI-DSS required
  • Understanding of ​USOA 11th Edition required
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office required
  • Excellent attention to detail required
  • At least 1 year of supervisory experience preferred
  • Experience using Marriott PMS preferred 
  • Experience using DataPlus preferred
  • Experience using a 10 key calculator
  • Resumes required
  • In-person interviews required
  • Two satisfactory references required
  • Satisfactory background check required
