JOB DESCRIPTION
We're currently seeking a Technical Specialist II for a contract opportunity in Richmond, VA with  one of the nation's largest producers and transporters of energy. This is a great opportunity to develop your skills and experience with an industry leader currently operating the nation's largest natural gas storage system.

Responsibilities:

  • This role is responsible for providing technical or engineering support in designated company areas or to specific engineering disciplines.
  • Distinguished from the Technical Specialist I by the increased responsibility in the application of technical or engineering skills and knowledge.
  • The incumbent is capable of completing routine assignments and tasks with limited supervision and direction.
  • Under the supervision of a supervisor or work leader, performs engineering or technical calculations, analysis, research and design to further develop professional knowledge and abilities and to provide technical support in designated company area or specialized function.
  • This may include analyzing and evaluating systems, equipment, process improvements, and programs for assurance that they are modified, operated, and maintained in accordance with Company policy and procedure and regulatory requirements.
  • Requires sufficient experience to have developed expertise in the area

 Qualifications:

  • Sufficient knowledge, technical expertise and work experience to perform essential duties of the job
  • Basic knowledge of operation, maintenance and technical design applications
  • 3 years Experience with developing electric utility substation RTU configuration setting files. Applicable experience would include use of point mapping software applications. Examples include SEL Acselerator RTAC, SubNet Solutions Sbstation Server, General Electric ConFigPro, or Novatech Orion.
  • 3 years design and commissioning experience related to high voltage substation protection, control, and SCADA systems.
  • Knowledge of the design and operation of moderate to complex systems and equipment Knowledge of industry codes, government regulations and company policies and practices
  • Working knowledge in the operation and application of personal computers and software programs
  • Good oral and written communication skills to include basic technical writing skills
  • Ability to apply, with limited guidance, engineering theories and concepts to effectively address problems
  • Analytical and abstract thinking skills.
  • Ability to problem solve and to quickly process information
  • Ability to interpret industry codes, regulations and practices with general supervision
  • Ability to coordinate multiple tasks
  • Project management skills

  • 12+ mths contract
