POSITION PURPOSE - 

The Home Depot’s Cloud Engineering team is building a public cloud platform to host the top 10 internet retailer in the world. As Web Operations Engineer II you will be responsible for building and supporting the application infrastructure of one of the largest eCommerce sites in the world. This will require you to maintain high site uptime while embracing rapid change and growth using a strong devops mindset of continuous delivery and site automation. This is a demanding role that requires deep technical knowledge, adaptability, hands on execution, and a ruthless drive towards higher levels of availability.

In this role

    MAJOR TASKS, RESPONSIBILITIES AND KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES -
  • Help support and manage a complex E-commerce infrastructure
  • Automate production operations processes
  • Automate continuous integration and deployment processes
  • Deliver infrastructure requests for software projects on time
  • Implement application performance monitoring to ensure site uptime and performance
  • Manage and track changes to web systems and monitoring platforms
  • Resolve production incidents quickly and efficiently
  • Participate in a 24x7x365 support rotation for a website that never sleeps

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS -
    • 3+ years’ experience building and supporting large-scale, business critical system
    • Public Cloud experience (AWS/ Google Cloud)
    • Expert knowledge of at least one web application platform: WebSphere, JBoss, Tomcat, Apache, NginX, Varnish, Endeca,
    • Expert knowledge of Application Performance Monitoring tools: Dynatrace, Splunk, Gomez, Coradiant, and Tealeaf
    • Experience with continuous integration platforms such as Jenkins
    • Experience with infrastructure configuration management tools such as Puppet and Chef
    • Mastery of at least one scripting language including Python, PERL, Ruby, Shell
    • Unix/Linux power user

    Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field

EDUCATION REQUIRED - 
  • The knowledge, skills and abilities typically acquired through the completion of a bachelor's degree program or equivalent degree in a field of study related to the job.

ENVIRONMENTAL JOB REQUIREMENTS - 
  • Located in a comfortable indoor area. Any unpleasant conditions would be infrequent and not objectionable.

TRAVEL -
  • Typically requires overnight travel less than 10% of the time.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS - 
  • Must be eighteen years of age or older. 
  • Must pass the Drug Test. 
  • Must successfully complete any required training or orientation courses.

PHYSICAL JOB REQUIREMENTS - 
  • Frequent periods are spent standing or sitting in the same location with some opportunity to move about; occasionally there may be a need to stoop or lift light objects (typically less than 8 pounds).
