Lab Technician

$13.50 hour

Excellent Benefit Package

Monday thru Friday 8am to 5pm

Lab Technician Job Function:

Perform application of dyes and chemicals to include:
  • Competitive evaluations
  • Shade matching
  • Problem-solving


Quality assurance to include:
  • Batch processing (i.e. DataColor and Pad-thermosol)
  • Perform TLC (thin layer chromatography) on dyes


Other tasks to include:
  • Color Fastness Testing for customers.
  • Support of laboratory promotions and general requests.
  • Maintain Standard Samples of dyes and production samples of textile chemicals
  • Maintain dye primaries for computer color matching data base and computer color matching equipment.
  • Prepare displays and related reports on laboratory projects.
  • Maintain data base for lab projects and reports.


Lab Technician Skills Required:
  • Knowledge of metrics for weights and volume.
  • Knowledge laboratory practices for using weights and measures in the processing of fabrics and yarns, and dyes and chemicals.
  • Knowledge of laboratory equipment and operating procedures including weighing balances, pH meter, and spectrophotometer.
  • Knowledge of AATCC and other related colorfastness test methods and knowledge of operating the related equipment for performing wash test, sublimation, crocking, perspiration, colorfastness to chlorine, etc., and Xenon light fading for wide range of end-uses including automotive.


Required education:
  • High school or equivalent
  • Chemistry classes and good math skills a plus
  • Excel and Word Experience
