About this job

The Maintenance Manager will have responsibility for the oversight and development of the maintenance department.  The Maintenance Manager is responsible for the development and implementation of strategic planning processes including budget development, work management, and overall performance of the reliability maintenance organization. The role works closely with various teams to support the formation of value-added equipment care and preservation methods and practices that improve safety, quality, productivity, delivery performance and costs. This position is primarily a day shift role; however, the Maintenance Manager must be flexible with regards to shift start and end times.  It might also be necessary to work off-shifts and weekends as well as attend meetings during off-shift hours to support the plant and manage the maintenance function

  • General oversight of the maintenance department including: day to day maintenance operations, spare parts inventory, tool room, and all associated personnel
  • Lead the continuous improvement of the reliability maintenance team by identifying opportunities in such areas as staff training and development, organizational design efficiency, loss elimination and reliability preservation.
  • Maintain an integrated partnership with the corporate technical community.
  • Foster or drive a reliability-centric culture mindset of asset preservation, loss elimination, uptime optimization and continuous improvement.
  • Manage employee maintenance functions and personnel as well as service and installations by outside contractors.
  • Coordination and oversight of special projects: facility expansion, facility enhancement, implementations of new machinery, including participating in the vetting and selection of vendors/contractors.
  • Develop and implement strategic planning process 
    • Develop and implement necessary measures in order to generate necessary data that will drive preplanned maintenance activities and guide development of those programs.
    • Develop, maintain, and optimize critical parts inventory including criteria, organization, and evaluation through regular analysis of utilization of stock.
    • Understand equipment inside out from a design, electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic programming standpoint.
    • Develop, integrate, and customize PLC controlled handling systems to manufacturing equipment
    • Work closely with process development in Germany including travel between the two locations as needed (travel <10%)
    • Create documentation needed for equipment and work closely with Production Manager for training design.
    • Develop spare and service part warehouse system, select suppliers based on competitiveness
    • Supervise maintenance techs in shifts as soon as they will be introduced  select, lead by example, identify training needs, develop maintenance team.
