General Description:

This position is responsible for the implementing the Quality Management System under the direction of the Quality  Manager to assure that all products manufactured by the organization meet customer specifications and achieve superior quality and reliability levels. The incumbent is responsible for project management, program launches and working in conjunction with the Applications Engineers, supplier development and first article and source inspection. Will also provide support to the Quality Technicians and Supervisors.

Key Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Under the direction of the QA Manager this individual is responsible for planning, organizing and monitoring the work of the department so that all resources are effectively utilized.
  • This individual is charged with the responsibility for inspection and all quality control activities involving all company products.
  • Researches causes of scrap and rework and recommends and implements programs for elimination of causes of substandard product quality.
  • Helps develop, implement and maintain cause and corrective action data.
  • Meets with company personnel to discuss and resolve quality problems as required.
  • Plan and organize projects through the use of performance data. Track project status through regular meetings, documenting progress with metrics. Effectively oversee obstacles in order to maintain project progress.
  • Utilize Advanced Quality Planning Tools, such as PFMEA's, Control Plans, Measurement System Analysis and Process Capability Studies to create efficient product flow.
  • Work with Purchasing on improving the capability and stability of Supply base. Utilize the PFMEA process to improve the effectiveness of Receiving Inspection. Suggest and implement improvements to our Supplier surveillance/auditing process.
  • Help direct all those involved with the inspection of items manufactured against orders or contracts.
  • Oversees and reviews First Article Inspection Reports and other relevant quality reports.
  • Ensures that production schedules and customer requirements are met relevant to quality related process.
  • Provides a high level of service to all internal and external customers. Contributes to positive teamwork environment.
  • Schedule and monitor annual PPAP’s for all active parts.
  • Lead internal audit teams; assist in all facets of LPA’s. Actively contribute to CIP development for all processes.
  • Investigates and analyzes quality issues and brings departments together to resolve problems. Provides written documentation and reports (i.e. 8D reports).
  • Capable of reading and understanding complex drawings.
  • Ability to use a variety of complex inspection gages and equipment.
  • Performs visual and dimensional inspection of various mechanical components and assemblies to close tolerances in support of subordinates.
  • Familiarity with Quality System(s)–ISO 9001, TS/ISO 16949,VDA (6.3),ISO 14001 etc.
    • Has understanding of customer specifications.
    • Maintains records, data and logs as required.
    • Provides support to achieve short-term and long-term department / company goals.
    • Maintains clean and safe work environment. Follows safety and environmental procedures and regulations. Reports safety incidents to supervisor.
