The Time Warner Cable Charlotte Corporate office currently seeks a/an Manager, IT Data Center Network for our Information Technology Department. Below please find a brief description of the essential duties and responsibilities required to function successfully in this position.

Position Summary:

The IT Data Center Network Manager is accountable for the 24 x 7 operation and support of IT network infrastructure (i.e. routers, switches, load balancers) within Charter's national data centers. Responsibility includes dispensation of network services, tier-2 and tier-3 technical support, and tactical management of network engineers. In addition to these, the IT Data Center Network Manager maintains the integrity of the network infrastructure through compliance with applicable standards, rigorous change control policy enforcement, incident response, and problem management.

Essential Job Functions:
  • Manage tier-2 and tier-3 network operations activities including: incident resolution, problem management, request fulfillment, network maintenance, project support, new implementations, decommissions, and all other supporting activities (e.g. documentation, method of procedure/MoP development, communication).
  • Serve as a technical escalation point ready to coach and train through hands-on assistance.
  • Manage all tasks relating to hiring of new full time network engineers and on boarding / off boarding of contractors.
  • Manage individual performance through semi-annual performance reviews, coaching, and goal setting.
  • Produce weekly reports detailing engineer priorities, planned objectives, and project progress/status.
  • Manage staff schedules to accommodate both business hours support, and on-call (after hours) support for emergency requests and incident response.
  • Work with the team to correlate recurring incidents with underlying network problems.
  • Identify and maintain a record of network problems that have the potential to result in incidents. Manage/track those problems through to resolution.
  • Coordinate and manage response for all data center network related incidents which potentially involve routers, switches, or load balaners.
  • Ensure that networks are operated and configured in compliance with published standards and Network Planning & Design support guides.
  • Review network performance metrics to ensure that systems are operating within the parameters defined by Network Planning & Design.
  • As a network operations stakeholder, work with more senior management and Network Planning & Design to develop future network designs and maintain an overall network service road map.
  • Coordinate network maintenance and changes while adhering to established change management policies.
  • Drive network projects that have been commissioned by the Network Planning & Design group.
  • Assist more senior management with the development of processes, policies, and workflows that facilitate cooperation with other departments and customers.
  • Serve as point-of-contact for customer escalations and for auditor requests

Job Requirements:

  • 7+ years of hands-on technical experience in an enterprise or service provider network environment
  • 5+ years experience managing or supervising a team in support of a large, mission critical, enterprise or service provider network.
  • Experience with implementing and supporting largescale networks: network routing, switches, and inter-related networking and security technologies.
  • Strong understanding of all major networking technologies and protocols such as firewalls, routing, switching, BGP, OSPF, QoS, and IPsec
  • Professional level of familiarity implementing and troubleshooting Cisco routers and switches (especially Nexus), and F5 load balancers.
  • Strong understanding of TCP and UDP mechanics including an ability to interpret packet captures.
  • Familiarity with VRRP and HSRP configurations.
  • Strong understanding of popular network communications protocols such as DNS, RPC, HTTP, et cetera.
  • Working knowledge of commonly used collaboration tools such as Microsoft Office and Visio.
  • Superior oral and written communication skills.
  • Strong inter-departmental relationship building skills.
  • Self-motivation and able to work without supervision.
  • Very strong focus on customer needs and a desire to accommodate them.
  • Ability to manage concurrent tasks and priorities.

Preferred Qualifications:
Technical certifications such as the CCNP/CCIE and JNCIP-SP/JNCIE. Certifications such as ITIL and Six Sigma.

Education and Experience:
Bachelor's degree (B. A.) from four-year college or university; or equivalent training, education and experience.

Travel Requirements:
Travel 20%
