Cook- Gathering Place - Full-time

This new role will serve as leader in charge of food production and presentation at The Gathering Place in Meredith Residence Hall. This includes planning, prioritizing and monitoring levels of staff as well as assigning staff to ensure an orderly flow for meals.  You will assist supervisors in the continuous training of employees and maintaining service and product standards. In addition, you will assist supervisors in monitoring food costs, portion control and presentation as well as prepare food, serve, set up serving area and ordering food and supplies. This role will ensure that high customer service standards are met by maintaining effective communication with customers, employees and supervisors.

Required:

High school diploma/GED.

Two years of food service experience.

Ability to maintain high work standards and productivity.

Interpersonal and intercultural relations skills.

Independent decision making and dependability.

Functional supervision of food production and service staff including coaching and delegation.

Ability to communicate effectively with supervisor, co-workers, and customers.

Perform basic math functions.

Lift and move up to 30 pounds, climb ladders and stand, walk, reach and stoop extensively.

Knowledge of sanitation requirements required.

Ability to  plan ahead and meet daily deadlines.

Ability to work effectively with individuals from different viewpoints and backgrounds utilizing Student Life vision and teamwork in daily work activity.

Preferred:

Management or supervisory experience helpful.

 Additional Information:

The schedule for this position is Monday through Thursday, mainly evenings based on business need.

Occasional overtime may be required based on business need.
