Sr. Accountant

The Senior Accountant will be responsible for the monthly general ledger close, financial statement analysis & presentation, and performance analysis & presentation of operating activities.

The individual will work on problems of diverse scope where the analysis of data requires an evaluation of identifiable factors and the ability to independently develop corrective solutions and collaboratively implement those solutions.

Position Responsibilities:
  • Perform the general ledger month-end close process, including preparation of entries, reconciliations, and intercompany expense allocations. Perform initial review of financial statements and recommend corrections to management based on that review.
  • Presentation of the balance sheet and income statement results
  • Preparation of budget and variance reports with continuous monitoring of budget and forecast activities
  • Analyze financial statements, reporting on and investigating detail for significant variances to ensure that all items have been recorded correctly and that discrepancies and irregularities are resolved
  • Review of AP & AR entries and continuous monitoring of accounts receivable
  • Ensure that all internal and external reporting deadlines are met
  • Document and monitor internal controls, revising policies & procedures
  • Ensure that records are maintained in compliance with accepted policies and procedures
  • Develop and implement new initiatives for process/workflow improvements
  • Develop and maintain tables and databases for analysis
  • Assists with preparation of annual budget
  • Assists with internal and external financial audit and tax preparation, including the preparation of financial statements, supporting schedules & documentation, footnotes, and supplemental information as requested
Qualifications

· Bachelor's or higher degree in Accounting or Finance with a strong understanding of accounting theory
  • 5+ years experience of accounting experience
  • Excellent analytical and problem solving skills
  • Ability to work proactively and independently with flexibility and enthusiasm
  • Good knowledge of GAAP with the ability to research and resolve operational issues
  • Firm knowledge of all accounting functions and related internal controls, including fixed assets, accounts receivable, accounts payable, and intercompany transactions
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to work under tight deadlines and coordinate a range of tasks that may not be under the incumbent's direct control
  • Ability to work cooperatively and collaboratively with all levels of employees, management, and external parties to optimize performance & results
  • Excellent Excel skills, including modeling and advanced formula functions
  • Expertise with Microsoft Word and PowerPoint
