About this job

Basic Function:

  • Perform preventative maintenance and repair services for production equipment and ancillary equipment throughout the shop. This includes dealing with electrical control panels, plumbing, hydraulic, pneumatic, programmable logic controllers, and mechanical operating systems.
  • Troubleshoot problems with equipment when necessary as well as perform emergency repairs. 
  • Read and interpret electrical, hydraulic, or pneumatic schematics and diagrams.
  • Perform programming functions for Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC), and possess knowledge and experience using ladder logic on them.
  • Possess a sound understanding of troubleshooting and repair to maintain equipment’s operational efficiency.
  • Utilize a variety of machines and hand tools used for adjusting, fabricating, fitting, and checking production equipment for its repair and/or replacement.
  • Any other tasks as assigned by Management

 

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Proficiency in Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs) preferred
  • Proficiency in electro-mechanical controls
  • Welding experience a plus
  • Must be shift flexible and willing to work overtime and weekends, as needed
  • Under ITAR (International Traffic in Arms Regulations) must be a “US Person”


EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE

  • 3 to 5 years’ experience in a fast paced manufacturing facility
  • Knowledge in the safe operation of hand and power tools.
  • Solid project management skills a plus.
     

LANGUAGE SKILLS

  • Ability to read and comprehend simple to complex instructions, correspondence, and memos in English.
  • Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as correction factors, percentages, area, circumference, and volume.


REASONING ABILITY

  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. 
  • Ability to deal with problems involving multiple variables in changing situations.


CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

Forklift certification preferred
 

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

 

WORK ENVIRONMENT

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts and outside weather conditions. The employee is frequently exposed to wet and/or humid conditions. The employee may be exposed to high, precarious places; fumes or airborne particles; toxic or caustic chemicals; extreme cold; extreme heat; and vibration. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud, and will require the use of hearing protection. Steel toed boots, safety glasses, and a hard hat will also be required personal protective equipment.
