We are holding walk-in interviews Wednesday, December 7th from 10 AM - 2 PM. Please be sure to come at least half an hour before the end time, as the interviews are over at 2 PM. We are located at 6200 Enterprise Parkway in Solon near the Digiplex movie theater.

Play Day Cafe manages a full-service kitchen with healthy food prepared and ready to go! The Cafe Associate will rotate between two job areas in the café. The associate will process orders at the café counter and prepare beverages. And, the associate will prepare food in the kitchen. Families can enjoy fresh healthy food, so kids can refuel and quickly return to play! A fun, energetic, approachable and positive attitude are essential to be successful in this position!

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

The essential functions include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Prepare food items, such as sandwiches and salads, following approved procedures by measuring, portioning, cutting, slicing, cooking, mixing and assembling ingredients
  • Greet guests in the cafe, answer questions about food and beverage, and process orders quickly and accurately; following approved cash and credit handling procedures using the point of sale system
  • Prepare or serve hot or cold beverages, such as coffee, espresso drinks, blended coffees, smoothies or teas
  • Ensure the equipment and facilities are kept clean and in accordance with health and safety regulations and facility procedures; and are used in an appropriate way
  • Clean and sanitize café and kitchen work areas, to include all equipment, tables, utensils, dishes, or silverware
  • Represent a high-standard of customer service at all times

Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities)

  • Must be 18 years of age
  • Ability to work and be flexible with all shifts, weekends, holidays and special events
  • Prior experience in the restaurant or food industry required
  • CPR and First Aid certification is a plus
  • Ability to read, speak, write and understand English
  • Ability to maintain high-energy throughout the entire shift
  • Proficient interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability to accurately reconcile all cash and currency, including processing credit cards, making change, and other basic math skills
  • Ability to work in a fast paced environment
  • Ability to learn and use technical equipment (e.g. espresso machine, kitchen equipment)
  • Willingness to maintain a clean, healthy, and safe working environment
  • Ability to learn and use company point of sale system
  • Ability to coordinate multiple activities with attention to detail
  • Ability to provide a high quality of customer service by ensuring friendly and courteous guest interactions at all times to make each guest’s experience positive
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as procedure manuals, work instructions, software manuals; ability to write routine reports and correspondence
  • Comply with Personal Appearance and Grooming policy that presents a professional appearance which for example, prohibits displaying tattoos, piercings in excess of two per ear, and unnatural hair colors, such as blue or pink
  • Ability to work individually and as part of a team
  • Self-motivated and learns quickly

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts, airborne particles, water, cleaning detergents, food, paper debris, and hot water. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to high.
