Available positions will vary by location but may include regular and flexible work team positions in retail sales, retail stock, cosmetics, and asset protection.

Our associates are an integral part of bringing the magic of Macy's to life, and they perform a number of functions that are critical to offering our customers the best experience when they shop in our store. While all Macy’s positions require working as part of a team to meet department and store objectives, individual responsibilities will vary depending on position. The number of scheduled hours each week may vary depending on need or position type.

In order to present our customers with a magical shopping experience, our associates may be scheduled to arrive prior to store opening or to remain after store closing. Retail schedules may include early mornings, evenings, weekends, holidays, and busy events such as the day after Thanksgiving and the day after Christmas.

Listed below are some of essential functions for the open positions:

Selling Essential Functions:
  • Meet and make a connection with customers, ask questions and listen to shoppers' needs, then give options and advice on meeting those needs
  • Inspire the customer to buy, celebrate the purchase, and create a lasting positive impression of you, Macy's, and the purchase
  • Maintain selling floor presentations and fitting rooms
  • Learn Macy's systems and procedures to enhance selling efficiencies and complete support duties
  • Perform other duties as assigned
  • Regular, dependable attendance and punctuality

Stock Essential Functions:
  • Assist in price changing execution
  • Organize and maintain merchandise in stockrooms, and fill in merchandise on the selling floor as needed
  • Learn Macy's systems and procedures to enhance selling efficiencies and complete support duties
  • Pull merchandise for online customers and deliver to the designated area on the Receiving Dock
  • Assist in the preparation of merchandise for shipment to customers
  • Participate as needed in selling floor recovery, including folding and hanging merchandise and clearing fitting rooms
  • Perform other duties as assigned
  • Regular, dependable attendance and punctuality

Beauty Advisor Essential Functions:
  • Initiate service consultations to determine the customer’s preferences and buying/service needs; explain and demonstrate use of cosmetics through actual application
  • Partner with Sales Manager and Counter Manager to identify business driving opportunities and stock needs
  • Develop a repeat-business customer base in order to regularly communicate: upcoming events, new merchandise receipts and product replenishment to increase incremental sales
  • Provide an exceptional customer experience by ensuring the customer is always the priority
  • Leverage product knowledge to increase sales by educating and assisting the customer in making the best choice
  • Attend product training classes and seminars
  • Achieve Scorecard and counter sales goals
  • Participate in pre-selling and sales driving events as well as processing of new receipts, damages, testers, and return to vendors (RTVs)
  • Maintain high customer readiness standards by ensuring proper presentation, organization, storing, and replenishment of stock as well as good housekeeping standards
  • Serve as a Role Model/Mentor to new hires
  • Proficient in POS systems including Search and Send and My Client
  • Ensure safety and shortage prevention initiatives are executed
  • Perform other customer-facing, duties as needed
  • Regular, dependable attendance and punctuality

Counter Manager Essential Functions:
  • Recruit, train, coach, motivate, and develop new and incumbent beauty advisors on company policies and procedures, product knowledge, and personal and department productivity goals
  • Role model expectations through initiating service consultations, sharing technique and product knowledge through actual application, and developing a repeat-business customer base
  • Sell merchandise through exceptional customer service techniques and professional selling skills to reach personal productivity goals
  • Develop and implement business-driving events and ensure proper execution to achieve counter productivity goals
  • Communicate productivity goals, monitor associate productivity levels, and provide coaching and feedback
  • Review and analyze business performance of daily, weekly, monthly, seasonal, and annual sales results
  • Supervise proper presentation, organization, storing, a replenishment of stock
  • Ensure timely processing of new receipts, damages, testers, and return to vendors (RTVs) through delegation to self and staff
  • Communicate regularly with vendors, planners, and buyers regarding stock needs, customer preferences, and special events
  • Attend product training classes and seminars
  • Participate in pre-selling and sales driving events
  • Maintain high customer readiness standards by ensuring proper presentation, organization, storing, and replenishment of stock as well as good housekeeping standards
  • Proficient in POS systems including Search and Send and My Client
  • Participate in physical inventory process
  • Ensure safety and shortage prevention initiatives are executed
  • Perform other customer-facing, duties as needed
  • Regular, dependable attendance and punctuality

Asset Protection (AP) Essential Functions:
  • Respond to customer and associate incidents to facilitate first aid and minimize company liability
  • Recover stolen merchandise and apprehend shoplifters and other people who commit fraud or other criminal acts against the company
  • Investigate criminal violations against the person or property of any customer or associate that is committed on company premises
  • Prepare prompt and complete reports relative to all theft incidents, merchandise recoveries, accident investigations, audits, and other activities as assigned by the Asset Protection / Loss Prevention Manager
  • Have knowledge of and maintain strict compliance with the law and company policies concerning apprehensions, searches and seizures, and the preservation of evidence
  • Promote shortage awareness and theft deterrence among associates by conducting meetings and participating in training events
  • Successfully complete all Asset Protection / Loss Prevention training requirements including CPR and First Aid and maintain personal certifications as required by law
  • Conduct audits to ensure sales department compliance to merchandise exposure standards and asset protection policies
  • Testify in court concerning any case, criminal or civil, wherein the company is a party of interest to which the Asset Protection / Loss Prevention Detective is summoned
  • Works on special assignments, investigations, and surveillance as directed by Store AP/LP Manager
  • Responds to alarm conditions at assigned store
  • Perform other duties as necessary
  • Follow shortage programs and procedures
  • Perform these functions in an efficient manner, as directed by the Supervisor
  • Regular, dependable attendance and punctuality

Qualifications:
Education/Experience


Previous retail sales experience preferred, but not required
Completion of Store Detective Training program required upon assignment to position (AP).

Communication Skills
Strong interpersonal and communication skills
Ability to read, write, and interpret instructional documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals
Ability to effectively communicate with customers, peers, and management
Ability to communicate on the telephone with proper etiquette
Excellent written and verbal communication skills. (AP)

Mathematical Skills
Basic math functions such as addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division
Able to use a calculator and calculate percentages and ratios (Selling, AP)
Must be able to make change in American monetary units (Selling)

Reasoning Ability
Must be able to work independently with minimal supervision
Ability to multi-task, while being attentive to customers and remaining flexible to the needs of the business.
Ability to work as part of a team, and take initiative independent of direct supervision.
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, handle multiple priorities, and learn new procedures
Self-starter, able to work independently and as part of a team and must have good time management skills. (AP)

Physical Demands
This position involves constant moving, talking, hearing, reaching, grabbing and standing for at least two consecutive hours.
May occasionally involve stooping, kneeling, crouching, and climbing ladders.
Vision abilities include close vision, color vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus
Involves lifting at least 30 lbs. (Selling, AP) and up to 50 lbs. (Stock)

Must possess a strong sense of urgency.

Should be comfortable with the use of computers and frequent use of RF equipment. (AP, Support)

Work Hours
Ability to work a flexible retail schedule including the day after Thanksgiving, special Big Event days, and the day after Christmas.
Available to work a variety of hours, which may include early mornings, evenings, holidays, or weekends. Hours are subject to change based on business need.
