Summary Tests and inspects products at various stages of production process and compiles and evaluates statistical data to determine and maintain quality and reliability of products by performing the following duties.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned by supervision.
1. Interprets engineering drawings and confers with management or engineering staff to determine quality and reliability standards.
2. Selects products for tests at specified stages in production process, and tests products for variety of qualities such as aesthetic, dimensions, performance, and mechanical characteristics.
3. Records test data.
4. Recommends deviations to existing quality or production standards to achieve optimum quality.
5. Sets up and performs destructive and nondestructive tests on materials, parts, or products to measure performance.
6. Prepares data or enters data into computer for analysis.
7. Follows Standard Operating Procedures to ensure Quality Processes are conducted effectively and efficiently.
Language Skills
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
Mathematical Skills
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
Reasoning Ability
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
Computer Skills
To perform this job successfully, an individual should be able to participate in on-line Continuing Education Courses in Quality, i.e., "Gage Mentor", "Blueprint Reading for Machinist", and SPC, etc. The individual should have working knowledge of SAP, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Word and Microsoft Outlook.
