Our Meat department offers a variety of fresh, unique meat products to our customers. In this role, you’ll provide incredible service by educating customers on the different cuts and selections we offer and suggesting meal solutions for any occasion. If you’re passionate about food and are looking for the opportunity to learn and develop your skills, this could be the position for you!

Open Interviews will be held at the Northborough Wegmans on Thursday, October 20th, from 11am-7pm. Interviews are held on site and are walk-in. No appointment necessary!




How do I make a difference?


Providing Incredible, Knowledge Based Customer Service

• Proactively approach customers at the counter and on the sales floor; answer questions about products; help locate products; cut, weigh and package items as customers request
• Work in the department’s back room; weigh, price and wrap products to be sold on the sales floor
• Seek to learn and share knowledge about products in the department and Wegmans cooking techniques

Ensuring High Quality Products & Ingredients

• Ensure cases are set up with fresh meat, scales and counters are cleaned, displays are properly signed and well-merchandised following company standard
• Ensure product levels are sustained and products are rotated showcasing quality and freshness to drive sales
• Assist in all areas of the department, slicing and cutting a variety of meat products and preparing recipes for Ready-to-cook items as necessary
• Unload and break down deliveries; stock freezers with products; refill products to meet customer needs and rotation for freshness
• Properly handle products, use equipment, keep accurate logs and follow sanitation practices in accordance with food and human safety guidelines and Simplification 5S procedures

Preferred Skills and Experience

• Customer service experience, preferably in food service, grocery or retail setting
• Knowledge of meat
• Experience working in a butcher shop
• Experience utilizing a variety of cooking techniques

Work Environment

• Work includes continuous interaction with co-workers and vendors in a fast-paced environment
• Typical motions include bending, reaching and repetitive hand and arm movements, including repetitive and sustained grasping
• Responsible for moving and lifting an average of 5 – 20 pounds with a maximum weight lifted of 50 pounds rarely to occasionally
• May be exposed to various allergens and some seasonal outdoor temperatures and weather
• Will be required to spend the majority of time on his or her feet and stand or walk without a break for up to 4 hours

Age Requirement: Must be 18 years or older.

Days/Hours Requirement: To be considered, it is preferred that applicants be available at least 4 days a week (Monday-Saturday) and be able to either open and/or close the department. Hours vary and our stores experience busy sales patterns on the weekends. All hourly employees will earn time and one-half on Sunday.
