CNC LATHE & MILL SETUP AND RUN

I & M Machine and Fabrication, located in historic downtown St. Joseph, MO, is seeking an experienced CNC Lathe and Mill Setup/Operator responsible for setting up and operating computer numerically controlled lathes to perform machining operations. Responsible for setting up and operating CNC machines and inspecting work to print. Candidate should be detailed oriented, responsible for precision machine work, reading drawings, perform set-ups, program, and operational functions on CNC, manual lathe and mill.

The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skills, and ability required

• Reads process sheets, blueprints, and sketches of part to determine machining to be done, dimensional specifications, set up, and operating requirements.
• Efficient use of measuring instruments (calipers, micrometers, height gage, etc.)
• Mounting, installing, aligning, and securing tools, attachments, fixtures, and work-pieces on machines, using hand tools and precision measuring instruments
• Calculating machine speed and feed ratios and the size and position of cuts
• Modify cutting programs to account for problems encountered during operation and save modified programs
• Inspects first run piece and spot checks succeeding pieces for conformance to specification using operation certification knowledge
• Basic skills in reading blueprints and strong math skills/preferably geometric dimension and tolerance
• Basic knowledge how to evaluate, diagnoses, troubleshoot systems and perform preventative maintenance on all machines and equipment
• Fundamental knowledge of metal cutting and machining practices
• Works with team to increase quality and productivity of CNC processes
• Assisting in other production tasks

Minimum of two years of experience.
