The Associate Director, Product Development - Capability will be responsible for leading the design, development, implementation, scaling, and continued evolution of the technical capabilities needed to enable the Special Needs umbrella.  This position reports directly to the General Manager / VP of Innovation in UHC Benefit Operations. The position is responsible for working with the product  /strategy teams and translating that strategy into technical execution.  From there the position will work with functional areas across technology and shared services to develop, implement, and scale the technologies needed to execute.  This includes understanding the current state technologies that support administrative, medical, behavioral, pharmacy, lifestyle, and other population health areas and how they can be applied to best support families with children with special needs.  It will also involve bringing together the best of what UHG can already offer across the Enterprise, developing new where needed, and creating a center of excellence that can be showcased to the market.  The position will work with employees across the company to help bring these programs and services to life. 
                                   
Primary Responsibilities: 

Accountable for translating new strategic product development (for families with children with special needs) into detailed technology development, including designing, driving requirements, guiding the creation of new technologies / evolution of existing
Responsible for creating CBA’s that support capital investments and overall capital management for the special needs umbrella
Understanding current technology capabilities across the enterprise that could help enable this offering
Bringing together existing technologies from different parts of the enterprise as well as enhancing and/or developing new capabilities needed to deliver on the product strategy
Understanding the needs of families in this space
Working with internal and external partners to determine the ideal design, and working to develop and deploy the service for the market
Establishing partnerships with other technology vendors in the market and working to leverage / integrate their capabilities as needed

Required Qualifications: 

Undergraduate degree
6 plus years’ experience should encompass technical design, development and deployment of new capabilities translating product strategy into technical execution experience in a large, complex and successful consumer related organizations
Strong project management experience
Ability to assess problems and implement solutions based sound operational principles
Proven experience managing and influencing effectively in a large, matrixed environment
Experience working with cross-functional teams in a fast pace, ever changing environment
Experience working with vendor partners to deliver a solution to the market 
Preferred Qualifications:
