EVENT MANAGEMENT: Support Event Managers with the planning and execution of events.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Support Event Managers in the planning and execution of on and off site events, meetings, and familiarization trips for, but not limited to, Marketing/Sales, Community Relations, Government Relations and more
  • Work closely with various internal divisions to successfully communicate and execute events including: Operations, Entertainment, Catering, Revenue Operations, Security, Publicity, Public Relations, Guest Services, Parking, and miscellaneous external vendors
  • Attend related meetings
  • Set up and attend key stakeholder meetings
  • Complete and distribute event itineraries
  • Facilitate event logistics and track event budgets
  • Handle post event evaluations/recaps
  • Understand and actively participate in Environmental, Health & Safety responsibilities by following established Universal Orlando policy, procedures, training and Team Member involvement activities
  • Perform other duties as assigned 

EVENT OPERATIONS: Learn the role of an Event Operations Supervisor and provide leadership, work direction and assistance to Event Leads, Event Guides and Event Management team.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Learn and assist with execution of events such as Universal’s Superstar Parade, early park admissions, marquee events, corporate events, productions and/or land control in the supervisory role
  • Provide work direction to Event Leads and Guides
  • Partner and communicate event needs with operating partners
  • Ensure proper staffing levels for event
  • Assist with organization and execution of divisional team meetings, if needed
  • Create and organize Team Member meetings or briefings, including agendas and content
  • Coordinate arrival and departure of event guests
  • Provide work direction and performance coaching to hourly Team Members
  • Understand and ensure all operational safety procedures are followed
  • Practice, promote and coach UO Service Model of Look-Focus-Act.
  • Leadership and team management skills
  • Support Event Operations management teams in frontline event execution
  • Understand and actively participate in Environmental, Health & Safety responsibilities by following established Universal Orlando policy, procedures, training and Team Member involvement activities
  • Perform other duties as assigned


REQUIREMENTS: 

  • In pursuit of an Associate, Bachelor or Graduate degree at an Accredited Institution
  • Current class standing of Sophomore or above
  • Cumulative GPA of 3.0 or above (official transcripts available upon request)
  • Consistent attendance is a job requirement
  • Approximate dates of this internship are from January 2017 - May 2017
  • Availability requirement typically includes 24-40 hours per week during Sunday-Saturday (must be available to work weekends)
  • Preferred majors include: Event Management, Hospitality Management or Tourism

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Current or prior theme park experience preferred
  • Must be comfortable being exposed to outdoor weather conditions and required 75% of time to stand and walk in the field
  • Must be customer service oriented and have the ability to make decisions in a timely manner
  • Must be efficient in Microsoft Office Programs including, but not limited to: Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Strong interpersonal skills, problem-solving abilities and organization 
  • Exceptional attention to detail
  • Superior written & verbal communication skills
  • Work in a fast-paced environment and adhere to deadlines
  • Ability to work autonomously and/or in teams
  • Prior internship experience is preferred
