The Regulatory FP&A Finance Director is located in Minnetonka, Minnesota and is responsible for the Central/West region Regulatory Finance FP&A teams.  This person will undertake the leadership and development of timely, transparent and reliable business planning, analysis and internal management reporting for our regulated legal entities.  The position oversees the developing and coordinating of annual budgets and forecasts that are used to monitor legal entity results in support of dividend and infusion activities, legal entity reserve analyses, annual rate filings, and other ad-hoc requests from internal UHG teams preparing external regulatory filings for state authoritative bodies (i.e. state departments of insurance).  This individual will lead a team of ~12 people whose scope of activities will be comprehensive of issues having impacts across many legal entities.  The Director will provide leadership, guidance and opportunities for growth for the department staff.
Primary Responsibilities:


Design, develop and coordinate business plans/rolling trend analyses, variance analyses, and all required supporting documentation

Direct staff in developing dashboards, reports and processes to enhance the organization’s ability to efficiently analyze and meet external reporting preparation requirements related to healthcare reform (MLR)

Directs research, analysis and interpretation of financial data and provides technical assistance to other departments.

Coordinate the efforts of multiple subject matter experts to optimize and standardize processes across all major UHG benefits segments and their respective finance teams.  Establish and maintain partnerships with business management to support company objectives.

Coordinates with corporate and segment accounting teams to ensure changes in accounting treatments get recorded accurately across all impacted legal entities and are included in subsequent forecasts

Build a high performing staff with a proactive and service oriented mindset

Manages the department including interviewing, hiring employees, conducting performance evaluations, and encouraging skills and career development across the team

Direct or assist in special projects as requested

Requirements

Required Qualifications:


Bachelor degree in business Finance or Accounting

8+ years accounting, audit or finance experience with escalating levels of responsibility

5+ years of management experience

Strong analytic background and problem-solving skills

Strong project management skills; highly organized and strict attention to detail

Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectively

Excellent oral and written communication skills

Strong relationship management skills

Highly proficient computer skills required, including extensive use of Excel

Ability to successfully navigate multi-system environment
Preferred Qualifications:

CPA or MBA
previous FP&A experience
Experience using enterprise financial systems including PeopleSoft, Hyperion Planning & Hyperion Essbase
