About this job

Mission-driven, non-profit community development corporation seeks highly motivated and experienced Community Organizers to join their Neighborhood Programs team. Reporting to the Director of Business Development, the Community Organizer will play a critical role in building NHS's influence through organizing, base-building, programs and campaigns. The ideal candidate has experience organizing work across a variety of issues, developing and managing resident-led initiatives, and has a proven track record of developing and engaging community leaders and residents in both program events and advocacy activities. We seek a candidate who:  1) understands the importance of integrating leadership development into all aspects of program and policy work, 2) will engage and mobilize significant numbers of community members, building a diverse and committed NHS presence in the process, and 3) will prioritize building deep and sustainable community capacity to advance the broader social change movement, and strong working knowledge of South Los Angeles, Compton, and Lynwood areas as well as all of Los Angeles County.
