Join us and start doing your life’s best work.SMPrimary Responsibilities:Contact customers to determine reason for payment delinquencyNegotiate and advise on collection of overdue/ incorrect claims and take appropriate action to recover overdue paymentsHandle unresolved inquiries/ issuesResponsible for adhering to  collection practicesMay work with outside legal counsel and/or outside agencies in more complex collection casesSome work is completed without established procedures.Basic tasks are completed without review by others.As a Collections Representative you will need knowledge of: Hospital or patient accounting department functions, operations and procedures Medical terminology, procedure and diagnosis coding sufficient to assess accuracy of patient accounts Covered insurance benefits, billing requirements and procedures for third party payers and/or Government ProgramsData elements for UB04/ 1500 and/or State of California Medi-cal ProgramOperation of on-line computerized patient accounting systems and/ or electronic billing systemsAccounting practices and procedures common to accounts receivableGeneral clerical office practices and procedures Medical terminologyHCPCS/ CPT and ICD9/ ICD10 Coding understandingHospital and patient accounting department functionsInsurance policies and their benefitsData processing input devicesAccounts receivable practices and proceduresGeneral clerical office practices  Knowledge of payer contracts

Requirements

Required Qualifications:High School Diploma or GED2+ years of experience in Billing and/ or Collections Revenue Cycle settingProficiency with Windows PC applications (which includes the ability to learn new and complex computer system applications) Experience in interpreting Payer Contracts and determining accurate payments on patient accountsPreferred Qualifications:Previous experience in a Revenue Cycle positionExperience using Microsoft Excel doing data entry, reviewing reports, sort/filter and open/edit/saving documentsWork Environment:Extended periods of sitting at a computer and use of hands/ fingers across keyboard or mouseOffice environmentHealth care isn't just changing.
