The Senior Underwriting Consultant will analyze health benefit plan characteristics and assess risks as to frequency and potential severity of loss of clients. They will utilize underwriting criteria and policies to provide proper rating methodologies. The Senior Underwriting Consultant is responsible for the evaluation of alternative pricing options and plan design changes based on economic analysis and trends.
 
Primary Responsibilities:

Prepare financial modeling and participate in development of business strategy
Validate renewals and proposals for accuracy
Conduct competitive analysis of all coverage lines and present financial and contractual findings to leadership
Predicts emerging customer needs and develops innovative solutions to meet them
Develops and manages business plans to achieve key business objectives
Translates complex concepts in ways that can be understood by a variety of audiences
Analyze pricing recommendation to determine whether recommendation meets profitability standards or goals

Required Qualifications:

Bachelor’s Degree in Math, Finance, Business or related degree
6+ years’ experience in healthcare underwriting in group insurance for a variety of products:  PPO, HMO, Fully Insured and ASO
5+ years’ experience with Risk Management
Excellent communication skills, both orally and in writing
Intermediate level of proficiency with MS Office suite (including Word, Excel and PowerPoint)
