JOB SUMMARY The Senior Director of Communications is a strategic advisor to Towne Park’s Executive Leadership Team, chiefly the CEO, executing PR and communications strategies aligned with the company’s priorities, mission and values. The Senior Director of Communications will generate, manage and execute strategic external communications for the company, including all media and public relations as well as manage internal, social media and field media initiatives and activities. This role reports to the Chief Strategist and will work closely with the CFO, General Counsel and EVP of Sales and Marketing to ensure cohesive development and execution of communications strategies and solutions across the company. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Media Relations: • Work with executive management to develop and implement complex communications and strategies for corporate activities. Key clients will include Towne Park’s CEO and Executive Committee. • Drive corporate strategy and message development, pitch and announcement strategies. • Develop branding initiatives, internal communications and external media relations. • Determines communications strategy and execute programs to deliver communications objectives throughout the organization. • Develop communication strategies for delivery of corporate culture and business strategy. • Prepare for and manage crisis communications in collaboration with key stakeholders and support teams as needed. • Manage media relations and maximize media opportunities. • Develop strong relationships with media reps. • Develop delivery and packaging plans for corporate messages. • Develop internal publications such as newsletters, releases, email announcements, planned publications, on-line, intranet, video, special projects and assignments. • Identify opportunities for positive media stories throughout the company’s expanded operating regions. Work with field teams to generate positive media and manage negatives media. • Ensure that all media opportunities for the CEO are fully vetted. • Act as spokesperson for the company with media in person, at events and in press releases. • Develop deep understanding of Towne Park’s business plans, our leaders, our competitors, and industry trends and proactively seek information internally and externally to support communications strategies. • Develop and execute comprehensive media plans for company launches, programs and business initiatives. • Proactively pitch media to promote Company activities and support business goals. • Manage executive interviews as needed, including pre-briefings, organizing logistics, attending interviews, and thorough follow-up. • Work with HR to develop and publish process & procedures for messaging and media activities, such as press releases. • Complete all communications accurately, persuasively, and on deadline. Management: • Manage internal corporate communications and field media contacts, to ensure consistent and persuasive messaging. • Coordinate and collaborate with other relevant contacts (e.g. sales and marketing) within the company to support and execute media and messaging needs. • Manage any media or public relations vendors necessary to achieve communications goals, ensuring seamless and thorough project management such as establishing clear objectives, meeting timelines and deliverables, and managing budget. • Works with leaders at all levels/functions to create and communicate key business objectives, long-term goals, and projects to employees. • Develops and maintains broad-based communications tools that provide employees with appropriate information and context. • Leverages storytelling through videos, social media and more to reach employees; embraces and encourages change and new ways of communicating. • Creates mechanisms for two-way feedback with employees. • Manages communication campaigns to keep employees engaged and informed through mergers, acquisitions, leadership transitions, and more. • Coordinates all aspects of enterprise-wide leadership meetings, employee broadcasts and more, overseeing everything from sites to agendas, content compilation, presentations, A/V needs and more. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES ? Possess extensive content knowledge in leadership development, management skills and operations management ? Provide internal performance consulting services to teams throughout the company as well as change management programs to facilitate implementation of new programs, processes and initiatives ? Substantial experience with design, development and implementation of training programs ? Considerable and pragmatic knowledge of leadership competency frameworks and a variety of proven practices, tools and techniques that help leaders develop in their jobs, with unique experiences and well-designed programs ? Strong understanding of HR processes and ability to achieve impact and influence through quality information, consultative influencing and awareness across a nationally diverse organization. ? Strong ability to move between tactical and strategic aspects of business. ? Ability to effectively plan, set priorities, and manage several complex projects simultaneously across the organization while working under pressure to meet deadlines. ? Ability to read, analyze, interpret and develop general business policies, procedures, manuals, training materials, and corporate communications. ? Ability to compose professional internal and external business communications including reports, memos, letters, and e-mails. ? Ability to analyze, define and diagnose problems and then work with teams in order to execute resolution. ? Demonstrated work ethic, drive, energy, and persistence to achieve goals ? Ability to maintain stability, dependability and professionalism while under pressure. ? Possess computer proficiency and technical aptitude with the ability to utilize MS Office (Excel, Word and Outlook). ? Ability to represent the company effectively in a variety of settings with a demonstrated understanding and appreciation for diverse cultures. ? Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one, small and large group situations to associates of the organization. QUALIFICATIONS ? 12 - 15 years of communications experience in a high-growth environment is strongly preferred ? 6+ Years of prior experience as company/organization spokesperson desired ? Ability to make tough decisions and trouble-shoot with an eye toward anticipating, identifying and forming communications solutions to problems that may arise ? Keen understanding of brand and image protection efforts ? Bachelor's degree in Business, Communications or other related field and experience. ? Master's degree preferred ? Ability to effectively lead large, complex team-based communications initiatives in a Inc. 5000 environment; ? Ability to establish trust and confidence of Executive Management ? Strong project, program, vendor and matrix management; excellent presentation, and organizational skills required ? Exceptional collaboration, influence, and communication skills ? Excellent analytical skills and able to develop and produce meaningful reports from multiple streams of data ? Hands-on experience and leadership mentality a must. ? Experience working with multiple levels of leadership including the key company executives and regional leaders. ? Experience in a service-oriented, nationwide organization. ? Professional demeanor and team player with high degree of confidentiality.
