Buyer, Macy's Backstage

Job Overview:

Each Buyer is responsible for maximizing sales and profitability by understanding their customer, leveraging relationships (with vendors, private brands and Bricks Merchants) and also possesses the ability to react to sales trend with speed. Overall support of the company sales, gross margin, and turnover objectives. Develop Assistant or Associate Buyer direct reports to the next level.

Essential Functions:

• Will look at the business from an entrepreneurial viewpoint by consistently reaching for the next layer of business to introduce it to the consumer quickly
• Is energized and passionate about the business
• An influential partner to the vendor community, Private Brand and internal teams, and has a flexible approach to negotiation while being a credible and respected partner
• Is knowledgeable about our competitors and comp shops frequently
• Consistently reviews and edits assortments to maximize business
• Manages markdowns and POS
• Develops and orchestrates Marketing concepts
• Creates signing and plan-o-grams
• Frequently travels to stores and warehouses to ensure merchandise focus remains accurate to that consumer
• Regular, dependable attendance and punctuality

Qualifications:
Education/Experience

• Previous experience in buying minimum of 3 years
• College Degree in a related field of study
• Aggressively pursues new ideas
• Knows where we are going and why, makes sound decisions
• Exceeds customers’ expectations
• Respects and values differences, collaborative leader

Communication Skills

• Exceptional communication skill

Reasoning Ability

• Superior analytical skills

Other Skills

• Experience in Off Price buying preferred
