Optum’s Consumer Solutions Group (CSG) is focused on helping people navigate the health system and make the best choices for their overall wellness. CSG’s mission is to empower consumers to take greater ownership of their health. We help consumers of health care, both directly and indirectly, by providing them with services and tools to help them improve their health and manage their care. We deploy our solutions on behalf of payers, providers, employers and government entities and we will soon be developing products for consumers to buy directly.
 
The Sr. Director, Business Operations & Planning plays a vital role our business success to driving the future growth of Optum specifically in helping people live healthier lives. 
 
Primary Responsibilities:

Support Prevention and Wellbeing senior leadership in setting a 3 - 5 year plan to develop business strategy, business management and key business priorities efforts related to product development and innovation
Work directly with senior leaders to drive successful completion of enterprise efforts
Work with product suite leads and growth office to gain visibility into product enhancement pipeline in order to ensure we are providing our clients with the most effective answers to their healthcare challenges
Manage relationships with key enterprise wide shared service partners in operations, technology, and finance, ensuring business, budget, and delivery alignment
Support and lead initiatives to embed UnitedHealth Group culture and drive team engagement across the wellness business
Develop and support Prevention and Wellbeing Merger and Acquisition plan
Help coordinate across Optum to establish alignment and visibility of new CSG initiatives
Develop and create internal and external meeting materials, including presentations
Facilitate events and meetings for internal and external participants
Anticipate and proactively gather information regarding trends and upcoming events
Support Internal Project Management / Administrative in a highly matrixed environment to ensure successful completion
Synthesize and present information to business and CSG leadership
Partner with finance to perform financial and conceptual business case analysis
Serve as a key resource to the business on complex and / or critical issues representing the SVP and VP of the Prevention and Wellness business across UnitedHealth Group & Optum
Serve as a reviewer and approver for work performed by others.
Support Business and Strategic Planning and other adhoc needs as directed

Required Qualifications:

Bachelor degree
10+ years of general business, product management, or new business development experience in a large, predominately matrix organization
5+ years developing strategic relationships within a matrix organization with proven success influencing and partnering to drive enterprise outcomes
4+ years of project and program management experience
Ability to prioritize, coordinate and manage multiple tasks simultaneously in a fast - paced environment
A natural bend to lead into grey space opportunities and situations.  Comfort finding ways to create and add value where the goal may be non - obvious
Experience creating professional presentations and developing messaging around business strategies
Ability to work effectively with executive management and build strong relationships across a variety of stakeholders
Effective and persuasive communication skills - both written and verbal.  Demonstrated ability to successfully influence without direct authority and drive outcomes
Strong financial acumen with a comfort and familiarity with P&L management
Working knowledge of product solutions and frameworks / templates - roadmaps, new product development processes
Strong analytical skills; ability to quickly aggregate and analyze information and draw conclusions. Tracks progress against plan, identifies any deviations and suggests recommendations to remediate; provides reports and analysis
Solid judgment skills to balance and prioritize differing organizational needs and make decisions on business needs and group objectives
Proven ability to build relationships cross the enterprise and fostering strong relationships with leaders in Optum and UHC 
Excellent PC skills, including MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
Preferred Qualifications:

MBA or relevant advanced degree
Working knowledge of UnitedHealthcare and / or Optum businesses
