Primary Responsibilities:

Designing service experiences from vision and strategy to execution
Collaborating broadly to inform and influence cross - functional product teams
Driving real product (service) creation that has meaningful impact on people’s lives
Utilizing experience design’s emerging best practices in order to balance desirability, feasibility and viability. Best practices should include a human centered design mindset, using lean startup principles, conducting and integrating primary and secondary research, generating proprietary insights, designing conceptual frameworks, and helping teams translate the value of those insights to develop valuable solutions through prototyping and testing
Thinking holistically in order to design and execute smart experiments
Keeping on top of the latest trends, best practices, and competitive activity related to user experience
Evangelizing experience design methodologies, mindsets, and products across Optum and UnitedHealth Group at large
Engaging with senior executives and their reports to drive and influence the design of products
Leading multidisciplinary teams that are dealing with ambiguous challenges to find clarity and drive results
Balancing great design with short deadlines
Balancing a passion for innovation with a commitment to improve processes, and optimize operations that enable it to become real
 

Requirements

Required Qualifications:

8+ years relevant work experience in human centered design / experience design field
4+ years experience human - centered and / or participatory methods of Design Thinking to identify unmet consumer, market and institutional needs
Demonstrated track record of creating new service concepts or business strategies to meet customer needs
3+ years experience leading matrixed teams and partners (internal and external) to deliver solutions integrating change management strategies for successful adoption
Adept at facilitating and engaging large groups appropriately through the experience strategy and design processes
Experience in developing multi - year roadmaps for consumer experiences
Experience in leading cross - functional teams in strategy development through planning phases by influence without authority
Expert knowledge of Macintosh and PC operating systems and relevant UX / design software / tools, collaboration tools
Strong visual communications skills in visual, written, and verbal
Strong written and verbal communications skills
Preferred Qualifications:

Graduate degree in Interaction, Industrial or Human centered design, or equivalent
