JOB SUMMARY:

This position is responsible for providing timely, accurate and appropriate transportation of time- sensitive freight of general commodities, also products requiring temperature control, such as frozen food, produce, live plants, plastic film, and textiles throughout the contiguous 48 states.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Productively manage the company’s trucks, trailers and freight on your fleet. Should be monitored daily rather they have movement or not
    • Coordinate with customer service and planners to ensure all drivers are picking up and delivering freight on time, loading/unloading delays, weather delays, breakdowns or anything that may interfere with scheduled appointments.
    • Proactively communicate potential service issues to the appropriate parties. If needed, implement corrective action plan
    • Make executive decisions for your drivers and get them everything they need (i.e. home time, vacations)
    • Monitor drivers hours as well as routes to ensure driver goes truck routes, mileage and motivate the driver to perform their duties
    • Maintains professional telecommunication contact with drivers and others as necessary to facilitate timely and accurate delivery of freight
    • Fulfills and prioritizes requests by clarifying information; completing transactions and forwarding requests (i.e. turn fuel cards on/off, update D1 messages, issue t-checks)
    • Perform basic accurate data entry; and demonstrate ability to learn new computer programs
    • May have to work Saturday or Sunday
    • Multi-tasking- balancing multiple issues regarding driver needs, dispatching loads, safety concerns, customer service, breakdown and many others
    • Be able to bring ideas and work with minimal supervision, be able to take simple directions and provide detailed solutions.

KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITES:

    • Ability to communicate effectively in verbal and written form with a strong customer service orientation
    • Solid typing and computer skills; detail oriented
    • Ability to adapt to change in a fast-growing production environment.
    • Ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously; very fast pace
    • Ability to use multiline telephones, fax machines, and personal computers
    • Ability to manage, at times, stressful situations while maintaining good customer service / professional relations.

EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE:

    • High school Diploma or GED preferred

Previous Dispatch and Trucking experience a plus; however not required
