Responsibilities:

To assist the Clinical Pharmacist in performing all pharmacy functions as Pharmacy Technician II in accordance with the Oklahoma Pharmacy Laws and Regulations Handbook and successfully qualifying/ passing/maintaining National Certification status as a PTCB Technician.

* Interact with other pharmacy staff members of the Mercy Health System to assure the integration of the departmental services with the organization's primary functions: to assist and support, coordinate, and integrate services within the department of pharmacy in a harmonious, respectful, courteous, and polite manner.

* Perform secondary duties as assigned by the Supervisor, which contribute to the over-all mission and vision of the effective operation of the Department of Pharmacy.

* Support other key personnel, medical staff and hospital staff in planning, promoting and conducting quality care monitoring and performance improvement activities.

* Demonstrate knowledge of special needs and behaviors of specific age groups to include neonatal, pediatric, adolescent, adults and geriatric patients.

* Assigned areas of primary responsibility representing 75% of shift responsibility: One Pharmacy Technician II will be evaluated based on the majority of their responsibility area as described below.

Qualifications:

Pharmacy Tech I:

Education: High Diploma or GED

Certifications: Certification as a Pharmacy Technician in Oklahoma.

Other: Pharmacy Technician will have the following skills:

1) Good communication and interpersonal skills

2) Good writing skills sufficient to communicate and create reports and proposals

3) General knowledge of data processing operations sufficient to ensure the development of program specifications for data input, data retrieval, and report preparation.

Pharmacy Tech II:

Education: High School Diploma

Certifications: Current certification as a Pharmacy Technician in Oklahoma and worked as a Pharmacy Technician for a minimum of 12 months. In addition to the Oklahoma Certified Pharmacy Technician status, be a PTCB Nationally Certified Pharmacy Technician.

Other: Pharmacy Technician II will have as a minimum the following skills: a) General knowledge of medications used in the hospital setting; b) Good communication and interpersonal skills; c) Good writing skills sufficient to communicate and create reports and proposals; and d) Skill in identifying and recommending training needs of staff . PHARMACY TECH II must fulfill Pharmacy Tech I principal responsibilities as required.

Preferred Other: Interact with other pharmacy staff members of the Mercy Health System to assure the integration of the departmental services with the organization's primary functions: to assist and support, coordinate, and integrate services within the department of pharmacy in a harmonious, respectful, courteous, and polite manner.
