DUTIES:

* Ensure departmental attainment of performance objectives related to volume, service, script count and generic substitution by the accurate dispensing of drugs and pharmaceuticals according to prescriptions written by physicians or other authorized persons.

* Compares product prices with competitors to gauge competitiveness and profitability.

* Reviews inventory on daily basis. Places orders for medication as necessary. Maintains appropriate level of supplies.

* Encourages teamwork through cooperative interactions with co-workers.

* Interprets physicians' prescriptions and enters prescription and patient data into computer system. Checks for drug interactions and allergies.

* Provides Pharmacy Technician prescription information and supervises filling of same.

* Counsels patients over the phone and in person. Conveys pertinent information regarding use of medications and potential interactions. Ensures patient understanding of the medication treatment program.

* Consults with other health care professionals and conducts research to ensure that all services are in the best interest of the patient and conform to established professional standards and applicable state laws.

* Address and resolve any inquiries, issues or problems with the customer regarding the use of the prescription, drug interactions, side effects, dosage, storage, etc.

* Ensure adherence to procedures regarding quality assurance, security of narcotics, disposal of drugs, etc.

* Ensure the completion and maintenance of all required documentation, records, insurance information, inventory, charge systems, etc.

* Ensure all required patient information is entered accurately into the computerized system. REQUIREMENTS:

* Minimum Bachelor's Degree in Pharmacy
