PRIMARY OBJECTIVE:

Oversees all aspects of Long Term Care (LTC) pharmacy operations including patient services, administration, business development including new site recruitment and onboarding, staff supervision, maximizing profits and managing the daily operations of the LTC pharmacy.

* Manages pharmacy to achieve financial goals, to meet and exceed sales, profit and labor goals through effective cost control, effective utilization of labor and strong customer service.

* Grow the LTC business year-over-year

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES

Essential responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

* Manages all daily operations of the LTC pharmacy and ensures delivery of patient services, employing company standards and expectations.

* Implements and supervises the development of specific LTC pharmacy services and new programs.

* Plans, coordinates and directs all activities related to the compounding, dispensing, delivery, receipt, and handling of medications and associated products within regulatory guidelines.

* Ensures appropriate pharmacy staff scheduling for ongoing operations, special events, and other changing conditions.

* Interprets physicians' prescriptions and enters prescription and patient data into computer system. Checks for drug interactions and allergies.

* Provides Pharmacy Technician prescription information and supervises filling of same.

* Conveys pertinent information regarding use of medications and potential interactions to the facilities. Helps to ensures patient understanding of the medication treatment program.

* Consults with other health care professionals and conducts research to ensure that all services are in the best interest of the patient and conform to established professional standards and applicable state laws.

* Encourages teamwork through cooperative interactions with co-workers.

* Advocates and supports clinical initiatives such as Medication Therapy Management (MTM), adherence programs and other quantifiable initiatives aimed at improving patient outcomes.

* Works towards a standardized performance level as defined by pharmacy platform metrics (i.e. wait times, processing and verification timing).

* Administers vaccines in accordance with state laws and other regulations.

* Adhere to all laws and regulations governing the practice of pharmacy including HIPAA, Preventing Fraud Waste & Abuse and OSHA.

* Provides friendly and efficient customer service by demonstrating sincerity, patience, respect and empathy in all customer interactions.

* Learns customer names and uses them respectfully in greetings

* Demonstrates teamwork to ensure customer satisfaction and a pleasant working environment

* May be required to work at multiple locations as needed.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

Directly supervises employees in the Pharmacy Department. Direct supervisory responsibilities include hiring, disciplinary action, performance reviews, coaching, developing work plans, training, and providing work direction. Works toward the development of Standard Operating Procedures and training manuals.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE

Bachelor's Degree (BA or BS) in Pharmacy from a four-year college or university, or Pharm. D. degree. The successful candidate will possess a minimum of three to five years of experience in a closed door, LTC pharmacy or multiyear (3+ years) experience within a retail setting that services multiple LTC facilities. Experience with EMAR required.
