Description

Fleet Mechanic III

The Fleet Mechanic III will perform scheduled preventative maintenance and necessary repairs to automobiles, trucks (light and heavy), trailers, vans and forklifts as directed by Fleet Manager and will act as a mentor to the class I & II mechanics.

Shift and Schedule

Fill time scheduled hours are from 6:00am - 2:30pm Monday through Friday. You must be open to overtime and weekends as the business may need.

Compensation
$21.00 Hourly

Position Responsibilities
  1. Meet the maintenance demands of the Sales and Supply Chain functions and perform quality work at the lowest cost to minimize equipment downtime.
  2. Maintain, repair, and perform preventative maintenance on all fleet equipment.
  3. Diagnose vehicle failures and disassemble, repair, and reassemble parts as necessary.
  4. Proficient in all facets of repair especially with electronic diagnostics, including but not limited to:
    • Preventative Maintenance
    • Electrical
    • Minor engine work
    • Engine electronics
    • Suspension
    • Chassis/frame
    • Brakes
    • Drive train
    • Heating and A/C
    • Hydraulics
    • Cab and body
    • Welding and fabrication
  5. Respond to service calls and pick up and deliver vehicles.


6. Mentor the class I & II mechanics.

7. Operate in a safe, well organized, and clean work environment (must be able to tolerate hot and cold temperatures depending on the season).
  1. Input data accurately and in a timely manner in to the DPS fleet maintenance software program (SAP EAM).
  2. Maintain records of daily check list (pre-trip inspections) and complete all necessary documentation, including vehicle records.
  3. Order and inventory parts.
  4. Adhere to OSHA, DOT and EPA regulatory compliance standards.
  5. The training and experience that comes from the following certifications will be utilized as part of the position responsibilities and will be required to achieve within the first year of employment with Dr Pepper Snapple Group:
    • DOT Commercial Driver’s License (CDL A)
    • DOT brake and annual inspection certification
    • A/C Certification

Qualifications

Qualifications
  • High school diploma or general equivalency diploma (GED)
  • 18 years of age or older
  • Minimum 5 year experience as a mechanic.
  • Must be able to work on all types of vehicles
  • Occasionally Lift, push, and pull a minimum of 50 pounds
  • Must supply necessary tools to perform the job
  • Must be able to trouble shoot gas and diesel engines.
  • Must be able to trouble shoot electrical shorts.
  • Must have some knowledge of forklift repairs, including hydraulic systems and propane fuel systems.
  • Must have experience in air brake and ABS systems.
  • Must be able to obtain a DOT state safety inspection certification.
  • Valid Commercial Driver's License (CDL) Class A CDL or able to obtain in 3 months.
