Clinical data acquisition and exchange are integral to UnitedHealth Group’s health care operations, care management, and clinical analytics initiatives. The CDEI department is an enterprise capability responsible for the receipt, validation, processing, and distribution of clinical data relevant to the care of UHG members to a number of downstream consuming applications. We are actively seeking a candidate who will lead the CDEI team and build upon their success.  The candidate is expected to understand the health information technology industry, clinical data vocabularies, and transmission protocols.  An understanding of claims data would be an asset.
 
Primary Responsibilities:


Work with stakeholders to understand business needs and collaborate on clinical data opportunities to meet those business needs

Ensure business processes are in place to support current and future functionality

Communicate and present to senior leadership to support program strategy, goals, budgetary asks, and escalation major issues

Create reports indicating progress of initiatives to senior management

Interface with external providers, provider contracting, legal and other healthcare operations team across the enterprise

Improve processes to maximize data availability and ensure steady state of this enterprise asset

Manage departmental budget, including tracking and reconciling monthly budget forecast vs. actual dollars spent

Develop business cases as necessary in support of program strategy and goals to meet the business needs of our stakeholders

Drive our participation as an active participant in Health Information Exchanges across the industry

Work with legal representatives to ensure contractual language is in place to support clinical data exchange

Work directly with stakeholders, both internal and external

Drive to departmental efficiencies

Understand industry standards, e.g., HL7, CCDA, CCD, ORU; also understand EDI standards processes

Requirements

Required Qualifications:

4 year college degree
3+ years of experience in direct management of staff
3+ years of experience healthcare operations experience (technology, business ops, working with business concepts.)
3+ years of experience with HL7 interoperability standards preferred; similar EDI standards background considered
Familiarity with data analysis methodologies
Demonstrated experience managing and tracking financials for $1M+ assets
Effective relationship management skills
Demonstrated leadership ability, including building and driving high performance teams of 10 + people.
Superior verbal and written communication skills; ability to speak clearly and concisely, conveying complex or technical information in a manner that others can understand, as well as ability to understand and interpret complex information from others
Influential interpersonal and negotiation skills
Proficient with Microsoft PowerPoint, Excel, Word, and analytics tools
Preferred Qualifications:

Experience working/communicating with healthcare provider community
Experience with internal enterprise operations
