Chemist I - Full-time / Part-time

Great opportunity to gain industry experience in a chemistry- based lab!

Chemists will be responsinble for the following:

• Daily assessment of process quality parameters and quality management systems including cross-checks, raw materials, calibration, maintenance, procedures, food safety, training, auditing and oversight of analytical testing performed in control rooms.
• Data analysis, trend identification, troubleshooting, corrective action, and communication with regard to processing data, final product, and wastewater.
• Training of new Quality Chemists, Analysts, Operators, Technicians, and personnel from other functional areas.
• Perform miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned (i.e., process improvement projects, development and modification of QM procedures and documents, recruiting and interviewing of new employees and assisting other locations with process start-ups and projects.)
• Collection of samples from fermenters to be run on analytical instrumentation such as HPLC and GC
• Preparing samples and viles for analysis on HPLC, GC, and ICP.
• Running analytical instrumentation such as HPLC, GC, and ICP.
• Entering lab results and data into spread sheets on Excel and Word Documents, and a lab notebook.
• Making solutions and media.
• Using aseptic technique when working with fermenters; maintain and propagate existing cell cultures using aseptic technique.
• General duties in the lab such as cleaning, dish washing, and preparing stock solutions and media.
