Senior Solution Architect Supply Chain:

This role will partner with key associates (e.g. project managers, business analysts, infrastructure engineers, etc.) to create well-defined solutions that are aligned to the TJX IT Strategy.

Position will be responsible for architecting solution designs that leverage existing capabilities, common architectures, IT standards and reference models and utilize the appropriate exception processes when necessary. This role will assure that the solution architecture can meet the key project functional and non-functional requirements and can be properly supported by the TJX IT engineering, support and operations teams throughout a project’s lifecycle. This includes providing direction on a variety of design decisions including, solution evaluation and selection, buy vs. build questions, early-phase project estimates, platform selection and high level technical design. When appropriate, the Solution Architect will advise the project through technical design and throughout the development lifecycle.

This Sr Solution Architect will be focusing on the supply chain and WMS/OMS side of architecture. A background in retail or manufacturing logistics is a must have.

Provides leadership and direction on high-level, comprehensive technical solution architectures that address the needs of key stake holders from the business, infrastructure, and operations areas on multiple development projects. Monitors and governs implementation to ensure adherence to the solution design. Includes participating in and/or leading Solution Architecture Reviews for a broad set of projects. Ensures compliance with all architecture directions and frameworks including technical, security, and regulatory standards. Assists with formal exception and waiver requests when necessary.

Supports the definition and selection of enterprise technical standards including tools, technologies and processes. Participates in the identification of new technologies as well as the development, review and approval of enterprise architectural standards, processes, frameworks and guiding principles. Proactively researches new vendors, technologies, and industry best practices. Determines relevancy and impact of implementing new solution architecture methodologies.

Leads, coordinates and facilitates multiple resources in the solution design process. Includes high-level project management and solution architecture administration functions (planning, tracking, status, documentation and project administration) throughout the design phase of the systems development lifecycle. Acts as a subject matter expert in the translation of system requirements into design documentation. Assists and advises engineering teams in the configuration, testing, implementation and support of technical architecture solutions.

Creates and revises Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) models for solution designs throughout the project lifecycle. Ensures technology solution designs meet operating requirements while adhering to capital constraints.

Minimum formal education:

Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience

Minimum job experience/skills required to perform this job:
  • 3-6 years of retail experience in application, technology and systems design roles.
  • A background in retail or manufacturing logistics and supply chain is a must have.
  • Previous experience as a lead architect on multiple retail projects
  • Broad knowledge of and experience with a wide variety of application technologies, platforms, and tools including web-based systems, databases, middleware/integration technologies, security, and infrastructure.
  • Knowledge of existing and emerging technologies
  • Strong consulting leading and mentoring skills along with excellent communication and collaboration skills.
  • Technology design experience which includes Performance, Security, Availability, as well as Operations, Monitoring and Support
  • Excellent written, verbal, and presentation communication skills
  • Excellent analytical and technical skills
  • Strong learning skills
  • Strong business perspective
  • Ability to alter direction easily to accommodate changing priorities
