This person designs and guides the implementation of large and medium scale enterprise middleware projects by delivering solution architectures, High Level designs, and reference documentation. This role maintains expert level knowledge in several components of the IBM stack including: WebSphere and Data power.

Key Responsibilities:

In this critical role, the successful candidate will demonstrate a track record of accomplishments in the following areas:

EAI(Enterprise Application Integration) & SOA (Service Orientated Architecture) Standards and Practices:
  • Participate and contribute to the definition of an enterprise integration strategy for TJX, including definition of standards, guidelines and best practices for application-to-application and business-to-business integrations.
  • Provide oversight in standards adherence through reviews of project work.
  • Function as steward of our migration toward TJX’s approved architectural directions, ensuring that project teams understand and utilize concepts of reuse and services.
  • Recommend changes to EAI and SOA strategies to improve the value of integration and SOA to TJX.
  • Actively collaborate with and align to integration, information, and security & infrastructure strategies.

Solution Design and Architecture:
  • Author’s high level integration designs from functional requirements that adhere to the integration standards and patterns.
  • Authors sizing and detailed estimates for all integration project requests. Participates in the creation of Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) models for large and complex projects. Maintains estimate artifacts for the solution designs throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Ensure the alignment of architectural designs of the organization and its information systems with the organizations business objectives.
  • Influence and guide external Service Providers and internal staff in implementation of the strategy, providing guidance and review of Service Provider’s architecture plans and designs to ensure methodology, best practices and standards are followed and to ensure overall quality of the integration solution.
  • Foster collaboration in discussing and vetting out viable enterprise solutions based on multiple technology solutions.
  • Work with delivery teams that are building out or enhancing applications that will make use of our integration architecture, to provide mentorship, collaborate on the use of tools and methodology, and to share expertise.

This role partners effectively with Integration Architecture, Technical Delivery, Landscape Management, Infrastructure, Enterprise Architecture and other groups as needed.

Required Skills and Experience:
  • Architecture and Design
  • Proficient in architecture modeling, integration, practices, governance and reference patterns.
  • Experience with TOGAF, Zachman, FEAF, COBIT, ITIL or Gartner Framework a plus.
  • In depth understanding of enterprise integration standards and demonstrate ability to advocate and enforce their use.
  • Knowledge and understanding of prevailing methodologies. (SOMA, OOAD, RUP).
  • IBM Middleware Products
  • Solid experience designing integration solutions using IBM middleware stack (WebSphere Message Broker (WMB), MQ File Transfer Edition (MQ FTE), DataPower, WebSphere Registry and Repository (WSRR), WebSphere Business Manager (BPM), WebSphere Application Server (WAS) and ITCAM).
  • Knowledge of Web Service security tied to IBM Tivoli stack.
  • Delivering SOA based solutions on JEE (Java Enterprise Edition) Platform
  • Knowledge and understanding of conceptual architectures. (Web, Client-server, Real-time Integration, SOA, SCA/SDO).
  • Hands on experience with EJB, JAX-WS, JAX-RS, SOAP, XML, JAXB, and REST.
  • Ability to see IT patterns and can apply industry and internal patterns in solution delivery.
  • Demonstrate an understanding of all elements required to architect, design, build, test, operate and maintain complex, global systems utilizing enterprise infrastructure and applications.
  • Ability to balance financial; architectural; business and IS objectives.

  • Awareness and experience within the retail industry is beneficial.

Minimum Experience:
  • 7-10 years of experience in architecture, design and implementation of complex integration solutions.
  • 5-7 years of designing integration solutions with middleware technologies including IBM middleware stack
  • 5-7 years delivering SOA based solutions on global enterprise platforms including Java Enterprise Edition.

Minimum Education:

Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field.
