Our Bakery department bakes and serves delicious breads, doughnuts, cakes, and other sweet treats throughout the day. In this department, you’ll work with a team to ensure the freshest bakery items are available for our customers. How do I make a difference?

Providing Incredible, Knowledge Based Customer Service

• Proactively approach customers to educate them about products, answer questions, help them locate items and offer suggestions to complete their meals
• Prepare products to go out in display by slicing, packaging and labeling bakery items

Ensuring High Quality Products & Ingredients

• Rotate products to ensure freshness, pulling and recording shrink on a daily basis
• Follow production lists when prioritizing and completing tasks, utilize job aides when preparing all products at the correct times throughout the day to ensure a consistent outcome in line with Wegmans standards of quality
• Properly handle products, use equipment, keep accurate logs and follow sanitation practices in accordance with food and human safety guidelines, and Simplification 5S procedures

Preferred Skills and Experience

• Customer Service experience, preferably in food service, grocery or retail setting
• Experience working in a bakery

Work Environment

• Work involves continuous interaction with customers and co-works in a fast-paced environment
• Typical motions include repetitive hand and arm movements, bending, reaching, and lifting
• Responsible for moving and lifting an average of 1-20 pounds with a maximum weight lifted of 50 pounds rarely
• Work involves exposure to various work environments, including cold, freezing & hot temperatures
• May be exposed to various allergens (things that may cause an allergic reaction)
• Will spend the majority of time on his or her feet and stand or walk without a break for up to 4 hours

Age Requirement: Must be 16 years or older.

Days/Hours Requirement: Part-time employees may work up to 30 hours/week, with shifts ranging between 4 and 8 hours at a time based on department needs. Weekly hours and specific shifts are not guaranteed and we do not offer set schedules. Candidates MUST be available to start no later than 3pm and be able to work until 9pm. Candidate must be available at least 4 days a week including one weekend day. Year-round employment only.
