Time Warner Cable currently seeks a Sr. Network Engineer for our Commercial Engineering Department. Below please find a brief description of the essential duties and responsibilities required to function successfully in this position.

Position Summary:
The Sr. Network Engineer will be responsible for deploying, managing, and ensuring stability of the local/wide area network infrastructure technologies to provide high availability, fault tolerance, and scalability to effectively and efficiently support mission critical business systems. Demonstrates a high level of competence in LAN/WAN technologies, routing and switching platforms, troubleshooting critical issues, and coordination of implementation. Represents the Engineering Department working closely with regional Architects and Engineers in designing, modeling, and implementing new technologies within the division. Performs moves, adds, and changes of equipment and systems specifically following the designated change management policies. This position will also be responsible for the oversight and ongoing mentoring/training of Network Engineers within the team.

Essential Job Functions:
•Maintain and Operate Access, Edge and Core Networks consistent with Engineering policy, standards and best practice
•Configure, service and support routing and switching equipment necessary for the delivery of Metro Ethernet, Regional Ethernet and Inter-Regional Ethernet services
•Troubleshoot and resolve service level and/or critical and system related issues
•Document projects including scope, costs, schedule, testing and terms of delivery to ensure project is completed with the highest level of quality, on time and within budget
•Will participate in an on-call/standby rotation and is expected to respond after hours for service restoration, troubleshooting and/or repair of all necessary equipment
•Perform the duties of a team lead for projects and oversight.
•Mentors and trains other Engineering personnel in key elements of networking systems
•Provides technical guidance to other support organizations within Time Warner Cable
•Coordinate and validate new implementation of hardware, software and proper configuration and performance.
•Generate standard templates for MOPs (Methods of Procedures)
•Participate in the creation of and review of event post mortem to ensure accuracy. Review post mortem and implement procedures to minimize future service outages and shorten the durations.
•Maintain all spare stock for all core equipment necessary for the delivery of metro Ethernet and regional transport. Track all equipment RMAs and ensure that proper levels of spare inventory are maintained.
•Review and approve configuration files and MOPs from Network Engineers on the team

Job Requirements:
•Configure, service and support all core routing and switching equipment necessary for the delivery of Carrier Class Ethernet. This includes all equipment, both active and passive, in the network.
•Expert knowledge of Layer 2 technology, including VLANS, QnQ, 802.1Q.
•Expert knowledge of IP routing, including OSPF, ISIS, BGP.
•Proficient in Metro Ethernet Forum standards including EPL, EVPL, ELINE, ETREE, ELAN.
•Document all core alarm points are being properly monitored and maintain accurate and detailed core circuit design records and drawings. This includes ensuring records are updated for any as-built or service restoration changes.
•Assist with the provisioning of all provider edge, customer premise equipment and other related equipment as necessary and directed.
•As part of an on-call/standby rotation, respond to after hours call-out for service restoration, troubleshooting, network testing and repair of all core equipment necessary for the delivery of Carrier Services. Ensure the commercial customer support team is kept up to date on the progress of all repair and upgrade activities. Also assist commercial service techs in troubleshooting, testing and repair of all last mile and customer premise equipment and other related equipment as necessary and directed.
•Perform scheduled maintenance on all core commercial equipment such as software upgrades and equipment upgrades and assist with such maintenance on the last mile and customer premise network equipment as needed.
• Expected to act as a team lead, and mentor for Network Engineers.
•Other duties as assigned

Preferred Qualifications:
1. A minimum of 5-7 years of data network operations, trouble resolution and support experience with MPLS, VPLS, BGP and Metro Ethernet services.
2. Required – 5 years’ experience with Cisco, Juniper or Alcatel routers and switches.
3. Required – Expert knowledge and hands-on experience of LAN, WAN, and telecommunication equipment, understanding of all OSI layers from application to physical, knowledge of RIP, MPLS, ISIS, OSPF and BGP, and experience with bandwidth utilization monitoring.
4. Required – 3 years of hands-on experience supporting/maintaining Cisco and or other major out of band access technology platforms.
5. Required – 3 years of hands-on experience using major NMS/Provisioning systems like Alcatel SAM, Cisco CTM or other like tools.
6. Industry recognized network certifications is preferred but not required.

Education and Experience:
Bachelor's degree (B. A.) from four-year college or university; or equivalent training, education and experience.
