6 PM to 4 AM daily

POSITION PURPOSE - 
Reporting to the DC Manager, the DC Operations Manager is responsible for leading the operation of a Distribution Center department in support of company goals and for providing input and feedback on all operations processes and results to DC Manager. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, providing input to DC General Manager for departmental strategic and operations planning, financial management, operational reporting and communication, fleet management,departmental process improvement, compliance, and inventory management. Responsible for leading a team within departmental scope of responsibility. 

MAJOR TASKS, RESPONSIBILITIES AND KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES - 
Strategic and Operation Planning: Provide departmental input to DC Manager for development of operating plans for warehouse and transportation operations in support of organizational goals. 

Financial Management: Identify departmental financial resources necessary to support operating plan and provide cost justification for departmental spending; participate with DC Manager in the development of department operating budgets. 

Fleet Management: Provide support to DC Manager for dedicated delivery processes and carrier services. Departmental Process Improvement: Provide process improvement recommendations to DC Manager, implement, execuute and communicate action plans and resources needs. 

Compliance: Lead Department Associates to be fully compliant with all safety and Hazmat rules and regulations, legal regulations, and human resource policies; ensure safety and security of associates, facility, equipment, and inventory relevant to department; report safety and security discrepancies to DC General manager. 

Leadership; Drive the HD Core Values and Leadership Principles throughout the department and the DC; lead by example; build a team within department and ensure teams work cross-functionally; manage performance of associates; ensure documented processes are trained and performance results are measured within department; provide clear expectations on metrics and goals to department associates; communicate effectively with all DC departments. 

NATURE AND SCOPE - 
DC Manager or DC Area Manager 
Accountable for direct supervision of the work activities of others. 
In addition to personnel issues -- including selection, termination, performance appraisal and professional development of subordinates. 

ENVIRONMENTAL JOB REQUIREMENTS - 
Typically in a comfortable environment but with regular exposure to factors such as temperature extremes, moving machinery, loud noise, and fumes which cause noticeable discomfort or a moderate risk of accident or illness. 

Typically requires overnight travel 5% to 20% of the time.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS - 

  • 18 years or older
  • Must pass the Drug Test
  • Must pass pre-employment tests if applicable
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule, including evenings and weekends.

EDUCATION REQUIRED - 
The knowledge, skills and abilities typically acquired through the completion of a high school diplomas and/or GED. 

YEARS OF RELEVANT WORK EXPERIENCE - 3 

PHYSICAL JOB REQUIREMENTS - Most all of the time is spent sitting in the same position or standing/walking or there is some requirement to lift or handle material or equipment of moderate weight (8-20 pounds). 

ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATIONS - 
Thorough knowledge of OSHA requirements and HazMat rules; ability to build a team within a department; ability to execute plans. 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS 
- Bachelor's degree (B. A.) from a four-year college or university and/or logistics management certification 
6 years related job experience 
Bilingual preferred 

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES AND COMPETENCIES - 
Knowledge of the logistics industry in a distribution environment.
