Payroll Specialist
LOCATION: NW Portland
SALARY: $20/hour
JOB DESCRIPTION: An international logistics company is seeking two Payroll Specialists to join their team. Hours will be Monday-Friday, 7:30am-4:00pm. This position supports payroll by administering various deduction programs, direct deposit and hourly/salaried payroll processing to all U.S. and Canadian locations. Will also provide customer service support to the Human Resources Department and individuals having related payroll questions. Experience with PeopleSoft and Kronos highly preferred.
Essential Functions:
· Set up and maintain payroll deductions for garnishments (child support, tax levies, etc.) and misc. deductions; issue remittances and maintain corresponding account reconciliations.
· Set up, maintain and transmit direct deposits.
· Process employment audits and support agency employment verifications.
· Audit payments to identify possible excessive pay.
· Handle stop payment and reissue of paychecks.
· Administer hourly/salaried payroll processing and generate various bonus payments.
· Provide coverage for reception area, phones and mail.
QUALIFICATIONS:
· High school diploma or equivalent. Will accept any suitable combination or education, experience, or training.
· 3+ years of multi-corporation, multi-state, payroll processing experience.
· Broad range of network knowledge including experience with Microsoft Office programs, Oracle, PeopleSoft, and preferably, SAP payroll system.
· Knowledge and experience with time keeping systems, preferably Kronos.
· Good interpersonal skills; participate in a team environment and build strong working relationships.
· Good communication skills (oral and written); communicate effectively with peers, end users, and all levels of corporate management.
· Detail oriented and accurate.
· Ability to handle confidential and sensitive information in daily operations.
A criminal background check and/or drug screen may be required.
