About this job

The purpose of this job is to identify and deliver results on high - impact quality and rework reduction opportunities leveraging big data analytics and machine learning. In this position, the individual will be advocating the power of data science concepts and working with cross - functional teams to create actionable insight across core business lines. They will utilize their advanced data analytic skills to identify relevant process and knowledge needed to solve large cross - functional quality and rework problems and will propose solutions to close these gaps.
 
Primary Responsibilities:

Discover the cross - functional enterprise wide, end - to - end information hidden in vast amounts of data, and help the Enterprise make smarter decisions to reduce rework and improve issue resolution
Deliver a Big Data Analytics solution utilizing tools like MapR Hadoop, Hive, Pig, Spark, Datameer and Tableau to support BPQM quality improvement needs around analytics, predictive modeling and business intelligence
Discover insights and identify opportunities through the use of statistical, data mining and visualization techniques
Utilize ETL (Extract, Transfer and Load) skills to work with different sources of data and creates ways to extract data from sources, as well as, import it and modify it to fit the needs of the organization and then add it into a data warehouse
Conduct training and educational programs in data science
Document findings, including assumptions and validation work in a clear structured manner
Communicate and present findings, orally and visually in a way that can be easily understood by their business counterparts
Summarize and present findings at executive level meeting and strategy sessions
Adjust the content and level of detail to appropriate level of the audience
Use strong business, problem solving skills and programming knowledge to quickly cycle hypotheses through discovery
Work closely with other business and technology leaders to frame problem definition and potential solutions
Create automated anomaly detection systems and constant tracking of performance 
Develop solutions for key business initiatives ensuring alignment with future state analytics vision
Engage constructively with project teams to support project objectives through the application of sound advanced analytical principles
Utilize statistical, mathematical, predictive modeling as well as business strategy skills to build the algorithms necessary to ask the right questions and find the right answers
Designs experiments, test hypotheses, and build models
Develop solutions to loosely defined business problems by leveraging pattern detection over potentially large datasets
Propose innovative ways to look at problems by using data mining
Validate findings using an experimental and iterative approach
Experience in creating complex queries from scratch through use of SQL
Experience in relational database modeling and concepts
Experience with ETL processes to extract, transform and load data across disparate systems
 

Requirements

Required Qualifications:

Degree in quantitative field, computer science, statistics, applied mathematics, bioinformatics, epidemiology or similar
3+ years of statistical analysis, quantitative analytics, and / or forecasting / predicting analytics
2+ years of applying machine learning using distributed systems like Hadoop, Hive, Spark or similar libraries
Experience working in an Agile Software Development environment
Experience with predictive analytics or BI reports within a Hadoop ecosystem
Experience working on Big Data tools (for example: Hadoop, Hive, Spark, Pig, Splunk etc.)
Exceptional communication skills and the ability to make complex concepts simple and easy to understand
Preferred Qualifications:

Experience with R or Python
Familiarity with multiple United Healthgroup platforms / data warehouses
