Reporting to the SVP, Behavioral Health Clinical Product Management, this role is responsible for driving the clinical strategy, product development, operational implementation, and differentiated market positioning of our clinical Care Management portfolio, while ensuring customer satisfaction across Employer, Medicaid, Medicare, and Commercial Payer channels.  This leader is responsible for advancing the Clinical Product vision across our Optum Behavioral Health organization’s functional partners; as well as across the broader Optum and client organizations.  This role will directly manage the Care Management Product pillar, as well as lead cross - functional teams from Operations, Clinical, Affordability, and IT.
 
Primary Responsibilities:

Care Management Strategy

Work with Market Intelligence, Growth Office, and Behavioral Health channels to develop strategic view of competitive landscape and market perceptions / needs
Interface with Clinical, Operations, Affordability, and IT to understand investment requirements, implementation considerations, and constraints
Create strategic vision for a market - leading, differentiated Care Management strategy that provides competitive advantages in clinical quality, efficiency, benefit cost management, and member outcomes
Product Development

Collaborate with Behavioral Health clients and channels to understand client - specific nuances and requirements
Define people, process, and technology requirements to address client needs in a differentiated manner and create market - leading capabilities
Build business cases investment requirements
Manage development of portfolio roadmap and pipeline with Product Innovation to support Care Management strategy across all customer channels
Operational Implementation

Lead cross - functional teams with Clinical, Operations, Affordability, and IT to execute Care Management redesign initiatives across all Optum Behavioral Health operations centers
Client Perspective
Interface with client and sales prospect leadership to understand voice of customer and drivers of member satisfaction / dissatisfaction
Provides thought leadership and clinical focus for client engagements
Leadership

Lead Care Management pillar team.  Establishes goals and priorities for team, allocates resources to accomplish objectives, and manages communications to leadership
Create and drive cross - functional project teams across Clinical, Operations, Affordability, and IT
Influence resource allocation and investment prioritization
Forge trusting relationships with leaders across partner Optum organizations to harness capabilities and resources
Represents Optum Behavioral Health Clinical Product vision and strategy internally and externally at Optum, UHC, UHG, and clients
 

Requirements

Required Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree
10+ years of health care industry experience
5+ years of behavioral health clinical experience
5+ years of behavioral health managed care experience, including progressive product management experience
Strong leadership skills with experience leading teams in a matrix organization
Proven ability to build relationships cross - functionally and influence teams toward common goals
Demonstrated track record of success developing product vision and strategy, bringing products to market, and expanding a P&L
Strong project management skills, including risk and contingency management, ability to manage competing demands and set priorities, and achieve deliverables
Experience with business case development, basic product accounting, financial modeling, and P&L management
Ability to effectively deal with moderate levels of ambiguity - effectively coping with change, shifting priorities, driving decisions and action without having complete information, appropriately handling risk and uncertainty
Excellent written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills
Effective formal presentation and facilitation skills for internal and external executive audiences
Clear understanding of client needs and the competitive landscape - competitor strategies, positioning, strengths and weaknesses
Preferred Qualifications:

MBA
Behavioral Health clinical experience
