PRO Accounts Sales Associatesare primarily responsible for selling products to and developing one-on-one relationships with industrial, commercial and other professional customers. They achieve this by proactively pursuing new business and generating leads. Key responsibilities for this position include providing outstanding service to customers through the sharing of product knowledge of all store departments and developing and maintaining professional customer relationships by paying special attention to customers' needs and providing solutions. PRO Account Sales Associates must have thorough knowledge of all departments and how to use the products in each department. The PRO Account Sales Associate must be skilled at project management following the sale from conception to completion. This position also involves acting as a Sales Associate on the floor by performing all associate duties (e.g., keeping work are clean and organized). Each associate has the responsibility of providing a safe working and shopping environment by following all safety policies & standards, completing specified safety training, immediately correcting hazards & unsafe conditions or reporting conditions to the Manager On Duty, and working safely as not to endanger themselves, co-workers, vendors, or customers.

Key Responsibilities and Tasks

  • Support Customers First Priority For PRO Develop one-on-one relationships with PRO Customers, offering a friendly greeting, smile, and eye contact with each customer
  • Have knowledge of customer's line of business to anticipate their needs
  • Ask customers open-ended questions and listen to responses about their projects and product needs in order to make purchasing recommendations
  • Create customer quotes and process fax, phone, and counter sales quickly and accurately
  • Follow up with DWCC on customer deliveries for current day and next day to ensure timely customer deliveries and will-calls
  • Follow-up with customer to ensure satisfaction and pursue future business
  • Provide advanced product knowledge to customers
  • Assist customers with special orders and installed sales
  • Produce and develop leads to build PRO customer base
  • Thank customers for shopping at The Home Depot
  • Ensure PRO standards are executed by being properly positioned during Pro Power Hours, using the FIRST Phone to facilitate customer experience, etc. 
  • Resolve customer complaints or concerns and escalate to DS or ASM when necessary
  • Support In Stock Priority Ensure that merchandise is 100% in stock to accommodate contractors' needs
  • Keep up on status of out of stocks and when product will be shipped
  • Act as a liaison and inform other departments of inventory needs
  • Support Store Appearance Priority Ensure the department is clean, presentable, and in-stock
  • Maintain showroom integrity and assist with minor resets, cross-merchandising as necessary
  • Drive Sales Know PRO and store sales goals and set personal goals to support store results
  • Sell the whole project by suggesting related items and services to purchase that supplement a contractor's merchandise or project needs
  • Develop knowledge of competitor products and pricing, and make decisions on markdowns to satisfy customers
  • Communicate out-of-stocks with the Merchandising Execution Team (MET)
  • Follow up on job quotes to complete the sale
Safety Follow all Safety Policies & Standards
  • Immediately correct unsafe conditions or notify Manager on Duty
  • Ensure that aisles and walking surfaces are safe
  • Offer assistance to customers who are shopping in an unsafe manner
  • Review displays and overheads for safe display/storage of tools and merchandise
  • Adhere to major and minor work rule policies regarding safety detailed in the Code of Conduct
Physical Job Requirements 
  • Bending, stooping, reaching, twisting, lifting, pushing, pulling and moving merchandise and tools 
  • Responding to public address system announcements, including customer services calls, pages, and general information 
  • Moving around the store and be able to assist customers 
  • Operating a computer to generate contracts, invoices, etc. 
  • Identifying and reading reports, tickets and UPC labels 
Working Conditions 
  • Associates may encounter an uneven walking surface due to temporary cracks in the floor 
  • Associates may have exposure to dust, gas fumes emitted by power equipment, and noise 
  • Associates may be exposed to external weather conditions, drafts and interior temperature changes, and slippery floors 
  • Associates may handle merchandise, supplies, and tools with sharp edges or that contain hazardous materials

Minimum Requirements

  • Must be 18 years or older
  • Must be legally permitted to work in the United States
Preferred  Qualifications

  • Prior supervisory experience
  • Prior retail experience
