SUMMARY: To maintain, service, rebuild, troubleshoot, repair, and operate all Industrial, plumbing and utilities as it pertains to the continuous smooth operation of Universal Orlando Facilities. Including potable water, industrial water, natural gas, sanitary, storm, grease, propane (LP) gas, high pressure steam, compressed air piping, chilled water piping, and fire protection systems. Maintain all facility plumbing in accordance to all applicable codes, standards, and USE specifications

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Maintain, service and repair all UO infrastructure, including, but not limited to: sanitary lines; grease lines; oil lines; grease traps; lift stations; and interceptors. Operate large cable commercial sewer machines and high-pressure line jetting equipment.
  • Maintain, service and repair UO natural gas systems, including, but not limited to, all aboveground and belowground pipes, valves and fittings. Perform all leak and catholic protection surveys. Locate underground gas piping using line locate equipment as needed and/or mandated by the Public Service Commission.  Utilize appropriate leak detection equipment to identify and locate underground gas leaks.
  • Maintain, service and repair all high-pressure steam boilers and piping. Perform daily water conductivity tests on boiler feed water. Maintain all flame, water, natural gas, and pressure controls as well as all other safety devices. Maintain, service and repair all makeup water feed pumps and associated piping. Support annual state inspections on fireside as well as perform wet side boiler inspections.
  • Maintain, service and repair all potable water systems as it pertains to UO Facilities, including, but not limited to: water softeners; water heaters; steam effect boilers; potable backflow preventers; circulating pumps; tempering valves; mixing valves; high pressure fog/mist lines; nozzles and pumps; and all related potable infrastructure.
  • Maintain, service and repair all water based fire protection systems, including, but not limited to: all fire hydrants; fire sprinkler systems; fire pumps; industrial backflow preventers; and all related fire infrastructure.
  • Maintain, service and repair all UO plumbing systems, including, but not limited to: water closets; urinals; sinks; faucets; drinking fountains; and all associated piping by complying with all NSF, ADA, and State Plumbing codes and regulations. Perform all plumbing utility locates and/or leak detection using the appropriate method.
  • Understand and actively participate in Environmental, Health & Safety responsibilities by following established Universal Orlando policy, procedures, training and Team Member involvement activities.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

SCOPE: Maintain, service, rebuild, troubleshoot, repair and operate all commercial and industrial plumbing and utilities resort wide in accordance with all applicable codes, standards and UO specifications.

 QUALIFICATIONS:

EDUCATION:

  • High school degree or GED is required.  Technical school is preferred. 

EXPERIENCE:

  • Three to four years of plumbing experience in industrial and commercial construction, or a fast paced service company dedicated to plumbing repair and maintenance; or equivalent combination of education and experience. 

CERTIFICATIONS, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

  • A valid Florida Driver’s License is required to operate company vehicles.
  • Must possess a Journeyman Plumbing License or Certification of Training issued by either a State Regulatory Agency or construction trade school.  

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

 While performing the duties of this job, the individual is required to:

  • Regularly (2/3 of the time or more) stand for prolonged periods; walk for prolonged periods (including ability to walk at a given pace that is predetermined by a moving sidewalk), hear audible alarms; voice commands with background noise; use hands and fingers to grip, pinch, handle or feel objects, tools or controls; stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl; reach, pull, push with hands and arms above and below head; lift up to 25 pounds with control; push up to 50 pounds with control; maintain alertness and attentiveness up to 4 hours while working varying hours; maintain concentration/focus (e.g., ability to interpret the work environment and make decisions on predetermined operating policies and procedure);
  • Frequently (1/3 to 2/3 of the time) talk; climb stairs and ladders; work at heights for prolonged periods of time including heights with or without railings or over open pits greater than 4 feet; balance; repeat motions more than twice per minute; work in an environment subject to vibrations; work in small or tight spaces; smell; work in varied light conditions including low or diminished lighting; work in an environment with flashing lights including strobe lamps.
  • Occasionally (1/3 of the time or less) sit for prolonged periods; repeat-using an input device-a keyboard or mouse-in a steady manner; work in confined spaces i.e. Manholes or work pits; and taste.
  • Specific vision requirements for this role may include: close vision with or without corrective lens (clear vision at 20 inches or less); distance vision with or without corrective lens (clear vision at 20 feet or more); color vision (ability to identify and distinguish colors); peripheral vision (ability to observe an area that can be seen up and down or to the left and right while eyes are fixed on a given point); depth perception (vision, ability to judge distances and spatial relationships); adjust focus (ability to adjust the eye to bring an object into sharp focus while in changing light conditions e.g., sunshine to indoor or dark conditions).

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

While performing the duties of this job, the individual is required to:

  • Regularly (2/3 of the time or more) work in wet, humid conditions (non-weather); work in outdoor weather conditions to include direct sunlight, heat or cold.
  • Frequently (1/3 to 2/3 of the time) work in extreme cold (non-weather) and extreme heat (non-weather). 
  • Occasionally (1/3 of the time or less) erect or work on scaffolding; use a Highreach (Aerial lift); excavating more than 4 feet; work with compressed gas cylinders or tanks; weld, cut, braze, or work with open flame; work with toxic or caustic chemicals, hazardous chemicals, fluorescent lamps or batteries; work with oils/fuels; work with aerosols (spray paints, brake cleaner); exposed to bodily fluids (blood, vomit); transport fuels or compressed gases and hazardous waste; use of a motorized company vehicle or a leased or personal vehicle for company business; work on water attractions or yachts; perform maintenance or servicing of powerized (energized) equipment (pneumatic, hydraulic, electrical) LOTO; and work around loud noise (noise when raised conversation is needed).
