About this job

The Technical Buyer is the supply chain department's interface and primary support function to engineering, legal, and other internal customers. This position procures complex parts, equipment and services and interfaces with suppliers on a frequent basis. A high degree of customer service and timely response is crucial to success in the fast-paced and ever-changing high technology environment.

Qualifications:

* Bachelor's degree in business, economics, engineering or supply chain management. Master's degree in supply chain management or business with a supply chain focus is a bonus.
* Minimum of 8 years of progressive purchasing related experience in a complex manufacturing supply chain environment required, preferably in the high technology industry. Equivalent combinations of education and experience may be considered.
* Experience working in a lean manufacturing environment preferred.
* International business or purchasing experience preferred.
* Comprehensive knowledge of capital equipment procurement, strategic sourcing, supplier relations, inventory management and controls, and planning.
* Significant experience negotiating and executing contracts.
* Experience supporting engineering functions and all procurement aspects of new product introduction including design for supply chain / manufacturing and supplier selection.
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to work cross functionally across the company, at times globally.
* Working knowledge and competence interpreting technical drawings and translating technical requirements to effective procurement.
* Strong computer skills with proficiency in MS Office and ERP/MRP software.
* APICS CPIM certification preferred.
