Aerotek is seeking a Quality Engineer to fulfill an opening with a NON-Automotive company in Southern Indiana. This position is a full-time requirement; it will start out contract-to-hire; will become permanent based on good performance, attitude, attendance, etc. This company offers good benefits and positive work environment.

This is a hands-on Quality Engineering role that will be majority on the plant floor with a fraction of the time in an office. This Quality Engineer will plan and conduct activities concerned with the quality assurance and control of manufacturing processes, products, and raw material for the facility.

  • Develop and report quality KPIs; investigate and analyze causes of scrap, rework and warranty to determine root cause; develop robust corrective actions to enhance or improve quality within the facility and proposes preventive actions for improvement
  • Develop and support standards and methods for inspection, testing and evaluation of raw materials, work in-process and finished products; develop and create written inspection procedures along with forms and instructions for recording and reporting quality data
  • Participate, and lead, Internal Audits of the Quality Management System
  • Respond to customer complaints using structured root cause and corrective action method
  • Initiate SCARs and verify the effectiveness as needed

Necessary Qualifications:

  • 4 year degree is strongly preferred; however prior Quality Engineering experience with other education will be considered
  • Quality Engineering experience in a manufacturing setting is required
  • Ability to read blue prints and strong background in Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerance (GD&T)
  • Experience writing work instructions
  • Experience performing quality audits and inspections
  • Experience with reducing scrap and using root cause analysis to identify failure points
  • Experience with use and training on measurement tools such as micrometer, height gage, Pi tape, ID micrometer, Bore gage, and surface plate layout experience.
  • Background with metals manufacturing or machining is needed
  • Prior experience working in a manufacturing setting requiring tight tolerances is strongly preferred
