Position Summary
Is responsible and accountable to ensure that the Department Goals and Objectives are aligned with the Corporate Objectives and Strategic Plan. Is responsible and accountable to ensure that day-to-day clinical operations occur in order to meet organizational goals. He/She must deploy the resources and develop the goals to ensure employees understand the intent of the Strategic Plan/Operation Plan. He/She must pursue higher levels of organizational and human performance to include quality, cost, growth, human resource and customer service objectives. He/She must ensure employees’ well being and develop employees’ talents to adopt ideas, new processes, new technology, and new products so as to ensure successful innovation.
Essential Job Functions
- Actively seeks creative ways to reduce operating expenses by improving processes, products, services and overall department efficiency.
- Assesses data involved in projects and decisions. Evaluates the risks and benefits accurately in the decisions and recommendations that are made and implemented. Performance Measures, Written plans, proposals and justifications for additional resources.
- Completes yearly competencies according to established time lines. Helps develop and implement competencies.
- Develop and implement cost-effective staff development and clinical education programs based upon the established needs of the department and organization. Performance Measures, Department education budget.
- Develops a cohesive team as demonstrated by opinion survey, department survey results, exit interviews, retention strategies, operational measurements and performance measurements developed by the department. Ensures team morale is high and positive so that team members are focused on accomplishing business results.
- Develops skills and abilities of self and team members so that they are aligned with corporate strategies and objectives, operational objectives, departmental objectives, and individual goals. Develops Individual Development Plans with employees to enhance their development and the performance of the organization. Provides learning opportunities to help employees acquire the competencies that will be required for future success.
- Directs the department’s PI program and continuously utilizes quantifiable data to monitor and improve department performance and quality. Performance Measures, PI reports and data, Outcomes, program management.
- Effectively recruits, interviews and hires high quality employees necessary to achieve appropriate department staffing. Selects employees whose skill and abilities significantly contribute to the achievement of the department’s mission, vision, goal and objectives.
- Ensures efficient, fiscally responsible processes and practices are implemented at the dept. level.
- Ensures new ideas are adopted and implemented to continually support the healthcare mission while successfully accomplishing those goals the organization must attain for its strategy to succeed. Ensures employees share knowledge, understand decisions and the reasons why decisions are made and implemented.
Education/certification
RN, BSN required. Association of Rehabilitation Nurses CRRN is Preferred. Current licensure as Registered Nurse in the state of South Dakota is Required.
