Overview

POSITION SUMMARY:

Assist in and/or perform under supervision all aspects of installation, alteration, demolition, maintenance and/or repair of electrical systems, conductors, assemblies, and associated materials and equipment on all types of projects within the electrical construction industry. The Electrical Worker must demonstrate the mechanical aptitude, mathematical skills, and literacy skills commensurate to the satisfactory completion of position's primary duties and responsibilities. This is a Safety Sensitive Position.

Responsibilities

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Perform the basic tasks of material handling, jobsite housekeeping, and general labor.
  • Dig trenches and excavations by use of hand tools and/or power equipment.
  • Perform underground conduit installations as directed by verbal instructions or blueprint reference.
  • Identify and install common devices, trim, boxes, fittings, and wire as directed by verbal instructions or blueprint reference.
  • Mount, secure, and install electrical raceways, fixtures, and systems as directed by verbal instructions or blueprint reference.
  • Perform wire-pulling procedures as directed by verbal instructions or blueprint reference.
  • Perform basic and large wire terminations as directed.
  • Terminate panels, motors, controls, and transformers as directed by verbal instructions or blueprint reference.
  • Size all conduit and boxes.
  • Size branch circuitry conductor size.
  • Assemble pre-fabricated systems as directed by verbal instructions or blueprint reference.
  • Bend conduit with hand benders.
  • Operate cable pullers, cable feeders, threading equipment, and hydraulic benders as directed.
  • Assist in metering and testing.
  • Read and interpret maps, instructional manuals, specifications, field sketches, and blueprints.
  • Perform basic layouts from field sketches and blueprint reference.
  • Utilize NEC codebook as needed.
  • Perform all tasks in a timely manner.
  • Understand and follow jobsite directions, both written and verbal.
  • Comprehend and abide by Corbins Electric/customer policies, procedures, and safety guidelines. Report all violations and incidents to immediate supervisor
  • Perform other project related duties and assignments as instructed by Supervisor.

WORKING CONDITIONS – The position requires:

  • Working in extreme weather conditions and elements, indoor or outdoor, including heat, cold, rain, mud, dust, and snow depending on job location.
  • Working on or around slippery or uneven surfaces.
  • Working in and around exposures typical of a heavy construction site such as heavy equipment, vehicular traffic, and extreme noise levels.
  • Working from various heights via ladders, scaffolds, aerial lifts, catwalks, and other safe work platforms and areas.
  • Working in and around restricted/confined spaces such as; manholes, utility tunnels, crawl spaces, attics, clean rooms, and raised metal floors.
  • Working in and around ditches, trenches, and excavations.
  • Working around storage containers, transmission raceways, and manufacturing equipment containing chemicals or toxic materials.

 

PHYSICAL STANDARDS – The position requires:

  • Wearing personal tool belt at all times on the jobsite.
  • Lifting 50 pounds, unassisted, frequently throughout the day.
  • Constantly moving about on the feet.
  • Completing a full day’s assignments involving one or more of the following: bending, stooping, squatting, crawling, climbing, kneeling, balancing, pushing, pulling, reaching over head, and repetitive use of arms, hands, and fingers.
  • Digging trenches and excavations, either by use of hand tools or power equipment.
  • Safe operation of two-handed tools/equipment such as cable cutters, hammer drills, compression tools, and jack hammers.
  • Safe operation of aerial and personnel lifts at heights.
  • Wearing any/all personal protective equipment at all times as required by the specific task: eye and face protection, steel toe over the ankle leather work boots, hand protection, head protection, respirator, arc flash protection, etc.
  • Operating company vehicles with manual or automatic transmission.
  • Utilizing construction site sanitary facilities (Porta-Johns).
  • Working a 40 hour work week, with overtime and off-hour shifts as required.
  • Good hearing, normal or corrected.
  • Good vision, normal or corrected.
  • Positive identification of wiring colors.
