Primary Responsibilities:

Maintain general ledger accounts and related activities for the production of financial statements and reports
Reconcile, analyze and review general ledger accounts monthly
Prepare journal entries and review accounting classifications, in accordance with generally-accepted accounting principles
Prepare documentation in support of external and internal audits
Perform ad hoc reporting and analysis and investigate issues providing explanations and interpretation
Assist with month-end close process
Analyze and prepare supporting schedules for UHG’s consolidated financial statements (10K and 10Q)
Prepare various benefit plan financial statements and all supporting work papers
Assist with administration of the enterprise-wide account reconciliation program and the system
Collaborate across the UHG’s businesses as a subject matter expert in certain accounting areas and processes
Identifies solutions to non-standard requests and problems
Solves moderately complex problems and/or conducts moderately complex analyses

Requirements

Required Qualifications:

2+ years of professional accounting experience
Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance
Solid understanding of generally accepted accounting principles and financial statements
Intermediate level of proficiency with MS Excel
Experience with G/L software applications
Preferred Qualifications:

Self-confident and the ability to adapt to changing circumstances
A person who is proactive and a “quick study”, is attracted to challenge and brings an energetic and forward thinking approach, along with high ethical standards
Well-developed communication abilities with strong written and presentation skills as well as excellent interpersonal skills
Collaborates well in a matrix organization
Solid technical skills and interests, and a commitment to accounting issues and developments
